‘Equalizer 2’ Actor Also Appearing on Watertown Cable Show

Watertown Cable host Fred Grandinetti has an eye for talent. He has had some actors who have gone on to the big screen to be guests on his show, Drawing With Fred. Grandinetti announced that award winning actor, Kazy Tauginas — who can be seen in the new movie Equalizer 2  — will appear on Drawing With Fred which airs on The Watertown Channel. Tauginas, a professional boxer, spars with a partner and quickly swallows a can of spinach to introduce a Popeye cartoon. Taugnias stars, and wrote the screenplay, for the award winning film Standing Eight.

Catch a Free Movie with Some Friends at the Watertown Family Movie Night

The Watertown Police and Watertown Recreation Departments announced they will host the first Family Movie Night of the summer this week, featuring the animated movie “Coco.” The departments provided the following information:

‘Mapplethorpe’ Movie, Produced by Eliza & Nate Dushku, Picked up by Studio

The biopic on controversial photographer Robert Mapplethorpe being produced, in part, by Watertown’s Eliza and Nate Dushku has been picked up by a studio and will be released later this year. 

The North American rights to “Mapplethorpe” has been secured by Samuel Goldwyn Films, according to a report in Variety. The movie stars Matt Smith, known for his roles on “Dr. Who” and Netflix’s “The Crown,” and it is directed by Odi Timoner. Timoner is also a producer, along with Richard J. Bosner. Samuel Goldwyn Films seeks to release the movie in the fall, according to Deadline Hollywood. The film premiered  at the Tribeca Film Festival in April.

Folk-Rock Duo Entertaining in Free Concert Before Family Movie Night

This Friday, the Watertown Police and Recreation departments host the first Family Movie Night of the year, but before hand, enjoy a free concert by a high-energy, acoustic, folk-rock duo. Knock on Wood provided the following information:

It’s not your typical guitar-fiddle folk act. Knock on Wood, a high-energy acoustic folk-rock duo featuring singer-songwriter Howie Newman, is anything but a typical folk combo. The duo plays well-known rock covers and funny original songs (suitable for all ages). Their varied repertoire includes everything from Steely Dan to the Everly Brothers to the Beatles.

Save the Date: See When Watertown’s Faire on the Square Will be Held

Organizers of the 2018 Faire on the Square announced the date for the Town’s annual celebration. 

The Faire will be held on Sept. 22, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Saltonstall Park —next to Town Hall, 149 Main St., Watertown. In case of rain, the Faire will be moved to Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018. Enjoy Free Friday Activities from the Charles River Watershed Association

Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA) is hosting their first Free Fun Friday with the Highland Street Foundation at the Boston Marriott Newton and Norumbega Park on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
There will be music, food, and various free activities throughout the day. Activities will consist of canoeing on the Charles River with Boating in Boston, bait and fishing lessons, story readings facilitated by Raising a Reader, and guided nature walks with the Bartlett Tree Foundation. Participants will also have an opportunity to learn from CRWA aquatic scientists, with hands on science experiments on the Charles River. This event is sponsored by the Highland Street Foundation and is a part of their Free Fun Friday summer program that occurs every Friday, from the end of June through the end of August at multiple locations throughout Massachusetts. Highland Street Foundation’s Free Fun Friday mission is to increase accessibility to many of the most treasured cultural venues in Massachusetts to people who might otherwise not have access.
