Police Log: Man Faces OUI Charge After Hitting Pole, Car Found With No Wheels

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrests
Feb. 28, 12:03 p.m.: Staff at the Super 8 Motel heard someone yelling for help, and the voice was coming from one of the motel rooms. Police were called and knocked on the door but no one answered. Motel staff let officers into the room and they found a man lying on the bed. They asked if he was OK, and found he was not in danger.

Dedication of Fallen Watertown Firefighter’s Memorial Taking Place on March 17

A year after the Watertown Firefighter Joseph Toscano lost his life during a fire the Town and the Watertown Fire Department will honor him with the dedication of a memorial in East Watertown. The public is invited to the ceremony for Toscano, which will take place on Saturday, March 17, 2018, exactly a year after his “last alarm.” A plaque will be unveiled at the corner of Merrifield and Bigelow Avenues. A reception will be held afterward at the Metaxas/Hellenic Community Center, 25 Bigelow Ave., Watertown. The plaque and the ceremony has been sponsored by a gift from Watertown Savings Bank.

Suspects in Watertown Shooting Held Without Bail; Incident was a Drug Robbery Gone Wrong

The two suspects in a shooting, which left a Watertown man hospitalized, were denied bail on Friday. Police said the incident started as a robbery of a drug dealer, who got shot when he tried to fight off the suspects. Friday afternoon at Waltham District Court,  Middlesex Judge Sarah Ellis ruled that Carlos Castillo, 19, of Boston, and Randall Glenn, 21, of Randolph, pose a danger to the victim and the community, and ordered them held without bail until trial. Both suspects face charges of armed assault in a dwelling, assault and battery with a firearm, aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, possession of a firearm without a license, and possession of a loaded firearm. Two Suspects Arrested for Shooting a Man in Watertown in February

Police arrested Boston man and a Randolph man who are suspected of being involved in the shooting of a man in Watertown in late February. Police were alerted to the shooting by Mount Auburn Hospital, which reported that a man who had been shot multiple times had been dropped of at the hospital on the night of Feb. 24, 2018. The victim is expected to survive, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s office. Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Watertown Chief of Police Michael Lawn announced that on Monday Watertown Police arrested Carlos Castillo, 19, of Boston, and Randall Glenn, 21, of Randolph, in a joint operation with the Massachusetts State Police, the Boston Police and Randolph Police.

Watertown Police Promote One Officer to Lieutenant, One to Sergeant

The Watertown Police Department promoted two of its officers this week in a ceremony at the Police Station. Watertown Police Chief Michael Lawn officially announced the promotions – one to lieutenant and one to sergeant – at a ceremony that was also attended by Town Manager Michael Driscoll. Chief Lawn sent out the following announcement:
Chief Michael Lawn is pleased to announce the promotion of Sgt. Wayne Hoiseth to the position of Lieutenant and Officer Thomas Dicker to the position of Sergeant.  The ceremony took place on Monday Feb. 26, 2018 at 4 p.m. in the Community Room of the Police Department.

Man Shot in Watertown Shows Up at Hospital; Police, DA Investigating

A man suffering from gunshot wounds was dropped off at Mt. Auburn Hospital on Saturday night, and a home was searched in connection to the incudent. The hospital contacted WPD at about 10:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, to report a man in his early 20s had been dropped off with multiple gunshot wounds, according to a statement released Sunday afternoon by the Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s office. The man was transported to a Boston area hospital where he was reportedly in serious condition, according to the DA’s Office’s statement. Police conducted a search related to the shooting.
