Jan. 1, 2:57 a.m.: An officer on Arsenal Street clocked a car going 59 mph in a 30 mph zone. The vehicle was pulled over. The driver said he was coming from a bar in Cambridge and admitted to consuming alcohol before driving.
An older man was struck by an MBTA bus, just before 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning, on Mt. Auburn St. at Patten St. near Watertown Square. Reports of non-life threatening injuries.
A woman who had her credit cards and jacket taken discovered the person who took them tried to charge items at Target and confronted her, leading to the suspect’s arrest. On Jan. 4, 2019, Watertown Police receive a call from the Target store in the Watertown Mall. When they arrived they found two women, one who said the other had taken her wallet and jacket from a gym locker, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. The victim, a 39-year-old Brighton woman, said several items were taken from her locker at Planet Fitness in Newton on Jan.

Dec. 24, 8:15 p.m.: An officer on Main Street encountered a man near Evans Street. While speaking with the man, the officer determined that the man had three active warrants. The 25-year-old Watertown man was arrested on three warrants from Waltham District Court, each for making a false 911 call.
A 63-year-old Winthrop man was arrested when police discovered items used for dealing drugs inside his vehicle after they pulled him over on Dec. 29, 2018. At about 10 p.m. on Dec. 29, a Watertown Police officer patrolling on the Westside spotted a man he knew to have a suspended license, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. The man, identified as Larry Lucchetti, was pulled over for driving with a suspended license.

Dec. 20, 8:10 p.m.: An officer driving on the one-way section of Riverside Street spotted a vehicle coming at him at a high rate of speed. The police cruiser swerved to avoid being hit by the vehicle. He turned around and stopped the vehicle.
Watertown Police arrested a woman seen breaking into one home and attempting to enter another on Dec. 23. A Gleason Street resident called police on Dec. 23, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. after she saw a woman in her back yard approaching the backdoor of her home, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. The resident confronted the woman and told her to leave before reporting the incident to Police.
Watertown Firefighters battled a blaze at a home on Flint Road on Christmas Eve. A fire alarm struck at 4:24 p.m. on Dec. 24 for a fire at 25 Flint Road. The fire started in a chimney on the first floor of the 2.5 story multi-family home, according to Watertown Fire Capt. Ryan Nicholson. “Upon arrival crews found that a fire had spread from the fireplace on the first floor,” Nicholson said.
