Watertown Resident Completes FBI National Youth Academy

Congratulations to Watertown resident and Lexington Christian Academy student, Hanna MacDonald for attending and completing the FBI National Academy Youth Leadership Program last summer. Hanna was recently recognized for her outstanding achievement.The FBI NA Youth Leadership Program is an intense program of classroom study, physical challenges, guest lectures and leadership experiences, that takes place at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA.

Police Log: Man Assaults Police Officer, More Info on Break ins, and More

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrests

Nov. 26, 2:18 a.m.: An officer monitoring traffic on Galen Street saw a vehicle traveling toward Watertown Square at about 47 mph in a 30 mph zone. The car didn’t stop for a few blocks after the officer tried to pull it over. The driver showed signs of impairment, including a smell of alcohol coming from his breath.

Man Who Stole Wallets from Watertown Gym Caught, was Also Wanted on Several Warrants

A man wanted for stealing items out of vehicles and lockers from a Watertown gym was caught after he used a credit card in Boston. Police found he was wanted on numerous warrants from multiple communities. 

Watertown Police discovered that one of the credit cards stolen during a theft spree at Central Rock Gym in Watertown on Nov. 8, 2018, was used at the Roxbury Community College book store on Nov. 9, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. Officers went to the bookstore and got security footage.

Local Celebrity Chef Speaks at Commencement of Middlesex Jail’s Culinary Arts Graduation

Eighteen inmates at the Middlesex Jail & House of Correction spent the past several months as participants in a number of educational and vocational programs offered by the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office (MSO). On November 15, they celebrated their achievement in a graduation ceremony attended by their families, jail administrators, a reality TV show winner and a former presidential appointee. Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian presided over the graduation ceremony which featured 20 diploma conferrals for 18 individuals. Five inmates earned their high school equivalency, six graduated from the MSO Culinary Arts program and another nine men graduated from the Custodial Training program. “Steady employment is a critical anchor in a successful reentry plan,” said Sheriff Koutoujian.

Three Watertown Homes Broken Into Tuesday Night, Latest in Spate of Break Ins

Police investigated three home break ins on Tuesday night, which are the latest in a spate of home burglaries in Watertown. Two break ins occurred on Winsor Avenue and one on School Street. In these cases, like previous ones, no one was home at the time of the break in. All of the break ins occurred in the neighborhoods around the Oakley Country Club. Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor said that detectives are investigating the break ins, and are compiling a list of missing items from Tuesday’s break ins.

Watertown Man Busted for Distributing Crack Cocaine

A Watertown man faces charges of distributing crack cocaine after being arrested in a bust by Watertown Police detectives working with a drug task force. 

After a two-month investigation, police got an arrest warrant and search warrant for 49-year-old Sean Williams of Watertown. On Nov. 15, 2018, at 1:15 p.m. police executed the warrant on Belmont Street, across from St. Patrick’s Cemetery, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. Watertown Police, working with the Suburban Middlesex County Drug Task Force, searched the home and found a large clear plastic bag containing smaller plastic baggies which contained a white substance, O’Connor said.
