Watertown Boys Soccer Overwhelms Gloucester in First Round of State Tournament

The Watertown High School boys soccer team came out firing on all cylinders, and rolled past Gloucester, 5-1, in the first round of the MIAA Div. 3 North Section tournament. 

The fourth seeded Raiders (13-5-1) scored early and often in the game at Victory Field against the 13th seeded Fishermen (5-12-1), Friday night. Watertown’s Caiden Kiani got the Raiders on the scoreboard just 1:53 into the match. Alex Egan got the assist. Less than two minutes later, however, Gloucester tied it up off a set piece.

Raiders Defeat Bishop Fenwick in First Round of State Field Hockey Tournament

A 4-0 win over Bishop Fenwick gave the Watertown High School field hockey team a good start in its effort to win the school’s 10th straight MIAA State Championship. The Raiders, top seed in the Div. 2 North Section bracket, hosted the first round game against the 17th-seeded Crusaders Friday afternoon at Victory Field. Senior Gabby Venezia started the scoring for Watertown with a goal 6:19 into the first half. She scored on a restart in the Bishop Fenwick end when she fired a powerful shot, which hit Fenwick goalie Lauren Wilkinson’s pad, flew into the air, landing near the line and rolled into the net.

WHS Sports: Boys Soccer Hosts Tourney Game, Girls Swimming Competes at League Meet

The Watertown High School boys soccer team hopes to make another deep run in the MIAA Div. 3 State Tournament. The Raiders will start their tourney with a home game on Friday night. 

Watertown will host Gloucester at Victory Field at 6 p.m. on Friday in a Div. 5 North first round game. The Raiders (12-5-1) earned the fourth seed in the North, while Gloucester (5-11-1) comes in as the 13th seed.
