DPW Cleaning Catch Basins Around Watertown This Month

The Watertown Department of Public Works will be cleaning catch basins around town in September.

The following announcement was provided by the Department of Public Works:

Catch basins carry stormwater off the streets and into the Town’s drainage system, which ultimately flows to the Charles River. The purpose of this work is to remove sediment and oils that accumulate in the catch basins to reduce the risk of flooding and so that these pollutants don’t go into the river.

Watertown Football Team Looks to Return to Winning Ways in 2019

The Watertown High School football team hopes to celebrate more wins in 2019 after the team’s string of winning seasons, winning streak against Belmont, and playoff streams were broken in 2018. For the Watertown High football team in 2018, it is safe to say things did not go according to plan. Injuries to key players before the regular season even started set the tone for a year that led to a final record of 4-7. The 2018 season saw the end of many streaks the Raiders were accustomed to extending such as beating Belmont on Thanksgiving (five years in a row), making the playoffs (five straight seasons) and finishing with a winning record (nine straight years). All those streaks will have to start over in 2019.

Find Out About a Proposed Development on Walnut Street

A drawing of the life sciences lab and office project proposed for 85 Walnut St. in Watertown, which includes a park and a garage. A community meeting will be held Sept. 16. Walnut Street would be to the left, and Arsenal Street to the right in the drawing.

A new life science lab building and a park have been proposed to be built on the site of Doble Engineering in Watertown on Walnut Street. Developers will host a community meeting about the project on Sept. 16.
