Police Log: Drunk Driver Crashes Into Car, Man Busted for Lighting Trash Barrels on Fire

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrests

March 22, 12:05 a.m.: Police received reports of three fires in concrete trash barrels, two in Watertown and one in Newton. One of those in Watertown occurred on Watertown Street on March 21 at about 6 p.m. and another on Galen Street on March 22, just past midnight. Police got access to a surveillance video of the area around one of the barrels and were able to identify a suspect. The video showed him walking on Galen Street and as he passed a barrel he lit a book or box of matches and dropped it into the barrel.

Police Log: Man Arrested After Crashing Moped, Electric Scooters Stolen

March 21, 6:51 p.m.: Police got a call reporting a blue moped being ridden erratically on Main Street near Church Street. When officers arrived they found the moped on the sidewalk in front of Santander Bank, and the rider was in back of the bank. Police found gouges in the sidewalk and minor damage to the moped. They determined the driver hit the fire hydrant and the rider fell off the moped.

Police Log: Employee Steals Copper Fittings, String of Car Break-Ins

March 5:36 p.m.: An officer on patrolling on Main Street spotted a man going into the Dunkin’ Donuts who was known to be wanted on an arrest warrant. As the suspect came out, the officer told him about the warrant and placed him under arrest. The 19-year old Watertown man was arrested on the warrant from Waltham District Court for assault and battery.

March 1, 2:14 p.m.: An employee at Jomar Distributors on Pleasant Street was suspected of stealing merchandise. Police were contacted by an employee who spotted the suspect on security video taking a full box of copper fittings and copper coils from the stock room, put them in a box and cover the items with a sweatshirt.

Police Log: Attempted Home Break-in, Man Arrested After Shoplifting Spree

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrests

Feb. 3, 7:35 p.m.: A shoplifting in-progress was reported by Target security., While police were on the way to the store they received information that the suspect had fled the store. Officers located a man fitting the suspect’s description on Arsenal Street just outside the Watertown Mall. The suspect immediately said, “I am sorry for taking the items. I will give them back.”

Police Log: Juvenile Busted on Gun Charges, Pizza Place Broken Into

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrests

Dec. 30, 3:50 p.m.: Target security spotted a woman going into two vehicles in the parking lot before entering a third vehicle, which she drove away. Security got a license plate and description, and gave it to police. It was determined that the vehicle had been stolen from Boston.

Dec. 5, 4:04 p.m.: Police received a report of a man who attacked a worker at the Watertown Towing lot on North Beacon Street. The employee arrived at work and saw a blue Dodge parked in the lot which he did not recognize. A short time later he saw someone coming from nearby Arsenal Wine & Spirits and get into the vehicle.

Police Log: Man Spits in Officer’s Face, False Warrant Scam

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrests

Nov. 26, 12:46 a.m.: An officer pulled into the 7-Eleven parking lot and saw a car sitting on the side of the building not in a designated parking spot. The officer saw two men in the vehicle and noticed a number of items in the back seat, including what appeared to be the stock of a rifle. The officer asked the driver and passenger to step out of the vehicle, and it was determined the stock was to a BB gun.

Police Log: Man Urinates in Front of Officers, Counterfeit Cash Found

Nov. 18, 7:06 p.m.: Police were called to Target because a man was found lying in the mulch bed outside the store. When officers arrived they found the man who was conscious and alert, but appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The man became belligerent and used obscenities when speaking with Police, as shoppers went in and out of the store, and created a disturbance.
