Police Log: Man Wrestles with Officer Trying to Serve Warrant, Scam Involving High-End Toilet Seats

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrests

March 18, 10:23 p.m.: Target security caught two people taking items out of the store without paying. Two men were seen concealing numerous cosmetics items, as well as a four pack of Sutter Home wine. They attempted to leave through the store’s mall exit without paying. They were stopped and security found one man had cosmetics worth $31.53.

March 5, 1:58 a.m.: An officer patrolling on Nichols Avenue near Dexter Avenue spotted a vehicle run a stop sign. The vehicle was pulled over and Police discovered the driver had a warrant for his arrest. The 63-year-old Brighton man was arrested on the warrant from Newton District Court for distribution of a Class B substance, and he was cited for a stop sign violation. March 5, 5:41 p.m.: Police spotted a man they recognized as being wanted on a warrant driving on Lexington Street near Carey Avenue.

The Watertown Police Department provided the following information. Arrests

Feb. 21, 5:11 p.m.: Police spotted a woman who they knew was wanted on a warrant. She was stopped at the corner of Main and Lexington streets and was taken into custody. The 42-year-old Watertown woman was arrested on two warrants from Waltham District Court: one for larceny under $1,200 and one for possession of a Class B substance.

Feb. 4, 4:14 p.m.: An officer patrolling on Walnut Street ran the plates of a vehicle in the area and found the registered owner was wanted on an outstanding warrant. The vehicle was pulled over and the driver was identified as the owner. The 71-year-old Newton man was arrested on the warrant from Gloucester District Court for leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage.

Jan. 28, 6:22 p.m.: Police received a report of two people shoplifting at Home Depot. The pair had been seen in the power tool section taking items, and when officers arrived a man and a woman were running away through the parking lot. Police caught the woman at the intersection of Arsenal Street and Greenough Boulevard, but the man got away.

Jan. 27, 4:06 p.m.: An officer in Watertown Square ran the plate of a nearby vehicle and discovered the registered owner’s license was suspended. The officer confirmed the owner was behind the wheel and pulled the vehicle over. The 51-year-old Needham woman was arrested on a charge of driving with a license suspended for driving under the influence of alcohol.
