WEEKEND FUN: ABBA Spectacle, Yoga, Plant Swap, Album Release, Italian Dinner

Your weekend might kick off on Friday evening with a lively show at the Mosesian Center for the Arts, called Gimme Gimme. It is described as a sapphic ABBA disco spectacle, including burlesque, drag and aerial performances. Wake up on Saturday, have a relaxing morning and then head over to Artemis Yoga if you have a handy young person to do yoga play with. Their family yoga hour looks quite fun. Once well stretched out, check out the plant and seed swap on the library patio.

Weekend Fun: Bike Event Canceled, Watertown Pride, Yoga, Homebrewers & Martial Arts

UPDATE: City officials announced the Get Out Your Bike event has been canceled due to the forecast rain on Saturday. Let’s start the weekend at the Get Out Your Bike Event at the dock on the Charles River on Saturday morning. If you haven’t gotten out your bike yet, now is the time. You can have it checked for free or learn about Blue Bikes if you don’t have your own. In the afternoon you can exercise further with a Family Yoga class at Artemis Yoga.

WEEKEND FUN: Running Club, Children’s Theatre, Yoga, Pottery Class

I heard a story on the radio yesterday about the health effects of socializing regularly in local community groups. Don’t trust my memory, but I believe they said that the probability of getting dementia is decreased simply by being among your neighbors. So this weekend, keep that in mind when you are choosing between running solo or in a group, doing yoga with Youtube or in a group class. I recommend choosing to play with others.

Sure it’s a little cold out, but joining a group will motivate you to run more regularly (and no dementia!). Saturday mornings at 8 a.m. you can run and meet neighbors with the Watertown Running Club. Rest up after the run while you help out at the library to set up their seed library.

WEEKEND FUN: Nutcracker on Stage & on Screen, Vintage Market, Jingle Jam & Yoga

I am returning from an extended vacation and a visit from COVID with a very Christmas-themed Watertown weekend, my apologies for missing the Chanukah party last weekend. This weekend Watertown is digging into Christmas seriously with both a movie and a live performance of the Nutcracker. The performance at the Mosesian Center is a ballet that takes a different twist on the story. The film of a traditional ballet performance is at the Majestic 7. At Grace Chapel on Sunday afternoon, there is a kid-focused Christmas party, and at Arsenal Yards, a cool pop-up market for buying sustainable locally made gifts.
