Fire Damages Apartment in Large Complex South of the Charles River

A fire started in an apartment in an apartment complex on Watertown Street on Wednesday, but was doused before it spread within the unit or to other apartments. The Watertown Fire Department received the fire alarm at 1:31 p.m. on Wednesday. The fire began in the kitchen area of a unit in the Watertown Square Apartments, located at 20 Watertown Street. No one was home when the fire began, but it was discovered by an alert employee, said Watertown Fire Capt. Eric Allen, the WFD’s Fire Investigator. “There was a maintenance worker that was on the roof of the building that saw smoke coming out of one of the vents,” Allen said.

Cause of Four-Alarm Fire in Watertown Determined by Fire Department

Fire blazed on the side of a home on Robert Ford Road Friday. The four alarm blaze damaged 12 units in the Watertown Housing Authority complex. The fire that damaged 12 units on Robert Ford Road on Friday appears to have started due to an electrical problem, according to the Watertown Fire Department. Watertown Deputy Fire Chief Tom McManus said the investigation into the four-alarm blaze lead to the basement of the building at 62 Robert Ford Road. “It appears to have started with a short circuit in the basement,” McManus said.

Watertown Hair Salon Damaged by 2-Alarm Fire

Watertown Fire officials are trying to determine the cause of a fire that damaged a hair salon in East Watertown. The fire at Hair Pluss, located at 1 Grove St., was reported at 7:36 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2. WCVB Channel 5 reported that one of the hairdressers arrived to find smoke coming from the building. A second alarm was called, and Firefighters brought the blaze under control.

Watertown Firefighters Battled 2-Alarm Fire Sunday Morning

Parts of a 2.5 story home in East Watertown were damaged by a fire on Sunday morning, and one firefighter suffered an injury. The alarm came in at 8 a.m. on Sunday, June 23 for the home at 51 Quimby Street, according to Watertown, and Deputy Fire Chief Ryan Nicholson, the incident commander, called for a second alarm at 8:13 a.m.

The fire did extensive damage to the third floor apartment in the home, and the other two floors had smoke and water damage, according to the report released by Watertown Fire Chief Bob Quinn. Fire in Commercial Building Caused by Lint Fire in Dryer

A fire that caused smoke damage to a building on School Street in Watertown started in a dryer at the business, fire officials said. On Jan. 18, 2019, a passerby spotted black smoke coming from the business at 111 School Street and alerted Watertown Fire and Police departments at about 8:14 p.m.

The Watertown Fire Department responded, and discovered a fire in DMB Linens. Firefighters extinguished the fire and limited the fire damage to a pair of commercial dryers. Smoke damage, however, extended through the entire building, according to a report from the Watertown Fire Department.
