Live Well Watertown Hosting Walk N Talk Along River, Qigong Classes

Live Well Watertown, a program of the City of Watertown, will host several activities to get out and about this fall, including a Walk along with River with the man who wants to start a shuttle on the Charles River, and Qigong classes at the Library. How Many People Face Hunger Discussed During Episode of Watertown Cable Show

The number of residents facing food insecurity spiked during the COVID-19 shutdown, but even though the Pandemic has waned many people still are in danger of going hungry. The latest episode of Watertown Cable Access TV’s Inside Watertown focuses on hunger and food insecurity in Watertown. Guests Tia Tilson, Executive Director of the Watertown Community Foundation, and Stephanie Venizelos, Community Wellness Program Manager (including Live Well Watertown) joined co-hosts Bob Airasian and Charlie Breitrose. Tilson and Venizelos spoke about about how many people are using resources in the City such as the food pantries and the state’s food assistance programs, as well as ways that people can help out.

Our first program will start at Arsenal Yards, go through Arsenal Park with a stop at the Commander’s Mansion before looping back. The program is a partnership between Live Well Watertown and the Watertown Business Coalition

Spaces Available in Winter Wellness Classes That Start This Week

A pair of classes being hosted by Live Well Watertown start this week, and there are still spaces available. Beginning Wednesday is a new eight-week class called Circle Walking, a Chinese martial arts and meditation in motion program. It is also a good way to keep moving during the cold months. On Friday, the two-part Beat the Winter Blues program begins. During the class you will learn about Seasonal Affective Disorder, and learn strategies to cope with it.

Live Well Watertown announced a slate of winter activities, including a walking group, snowshoeing, beating the winter blues and the annual Soup Fest. The group sent out the following details:

The Wednesday Walks are moving indoors for the winter months! Circle Walking is a Chinese martial art and meditation in motion that can help reduce stress and improve balance. It is easy to learn and focuses on movement changes while walking around the edge of a circle in various stances.
