Watertown residents are invited to come out to the Watertown Moves: Get Out Your Bike event on Saturday, May 11, 2019, 1-3 p.m. at the Watertown Square Dock, Charles River Road at Galen Street Bridge. The rain date is May 19. Live Well Watertown provided the following information:

Dig your bike out of the basement, garage, or shed and bring it down for a free check-up! Meet representatives from Watertown’s Bike & Pedestrian Committee, Live Well Watertown, Watertown’s Transportation Management Association (TMA), and Lime, whose bike share program now has all electric-assist. Learn about Watertown’s active and healthy transportation programs & initiatives!

There are still spots available in Eat Well Watertown’s next event, Dress Your Salad For Success: Healthy, Homemade Dressings & Vinaigrettes. The dressing you put on top of your salad is just as important as what you put in it. Homemade dressings can be healthier, less expensive, and pack in more flavor than store-bought options. Join Community Chefs Carabeth Connolly, Gaia Sciaranghella, & Ilana Hardesty in learning how to whip up a variety of fresh homemade dressings that are easy to make and full of flavor.

Cooking Demonstration, Peaches & Compost Program at Watertown Farmers’ Market

The Watertown Farmers’ Market has cooking demonstrations, summer peaches and a chance to compost. The Watertown Farmers’ Market sent out the following information:

This week at the Watertown Farmers’ Market from 5:15 – 6:15 p.m., community chef Gaia Sciaranghella will be preparing Mushroom Bruschetta with ingredients from our farmers and vendors. In honor of the event, Spring Brook Farm will be selling cheese to top off this delicious and healthy meal! More information can be found below. Peaches made their appearance at the market last week.

Spring is here. Find your bike, get it tuned up and take a ride during Watertown Moves’ Get Out Your Bike Event. The following information was provided by Live Well Watertown:

SPRING HAS SPRUNG

The days are getting longer and warmer! Members from Trees for Watertown will be pointing out budding trees and signs of Spring along the way. WALK-INS WELCOME

Participants will walk at a moderate pace for 30 or 60 minutes. Sneakers or walking shoes and comfortable, clothing recommended.

Learn About Healthy Eating and Cooking at Watertown Winter Soup Fest

Live Well Watertown will host the Winter Soup Fest where chefs from the Eat Well Team will have healthy and warming soups to sample. 

The Eat Well program is open to all Watertown residents and offers hands-on experience and fun with a focus on Watertown’s diverse ethnic cuisine. Join us for one or more classes and learn how to select fresh, local, healthy foods and prepare nutritious and delicious meals. The Soup Fest is the first event in the series for 2018, and will be held Wednesday, February 28 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the Watertown Free Public Library, 123 Main St., Watertown, MA 02472
