Watertown Plays a Thriller of a Football Game With Swampscott

Victory Field was filled with thrills and excitement on Halloween night, but it could be a night that haunts the Watertown’s football team. The Raiders (7-1) hosted Swampscott (4-4) in the Div. 4 North section quarterfinal. Watertown with the first undefeated regular season since 1977 and looked poised to keep rolling when they took the first possession and scored a touchdown. Quarterback Nick Giordano kept the drive alive by scrambling and hitting Zach Rimsa on a 3rd and 9 play.

Watertown Field Hockey Starts Hunt for Sixth Straight State Title

The Watertown field hockey team learned who it will play in the State Tournament as they seek a sixth straight crown. The top seeded Raiders will host the quarterfinal of the MIAA Div. 2 North Section field hockey tournamentagainst the winner of the Wilmington (eighth seed, 9-4-3)-Newburyport (ninth, 9-5-4) game. Watertown will play on Friday, Oct. 31 at 2:30 p.m. at Victory Field.

Watertown Lacrosse Teams Ready for State Tournament

It’s tourney time for the Raiders boys’ and girls’ lacrosse teams.For the second year in a row both of Watertown High School’s lacrosse teams will play in the MIAA state tournament. The girls team earned a first round bye in the East Section Div. 2 tournament, and will travel for the quarterfinal game. The fifth-seeded Raiders finished 13-3, and will take on fourth-seeded Dartmouth (16-2) Wednesday, May 28 at 4 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Dartmouth. The boys got the eighth-seed in the Central/East Section Div.

A battle between two teams linked through history and circumstance needed overtime to decide, and the outcome for Watertown proved to be a tough one to digest. The Raiders seemed to have Cardinal Spellman on the ropes during the Div.

Watertown’s Girl’s Basketball Comeback Falls Short in Lowell

Watertown captain Gabriella Coppola walked up and took the North Section runners-up trophy Saturday but she could not even muster a grin after the game against Arlington Catholic in Lowell on Saturday. For the second straight season the Raiders’ season ended in the section final. While the 2013 appearance at Tsongas Center was unexpected, this year Watertown was top seed and came in with a 21-1 record.

Watertown Boy’s Basketball Team Heading Back to the Garden

The Raiders will return to a familiar place after a three year hiatus after Watertown defeated Stoneham 48-34 in the MIAA Div. 3 North Section final at the Tsongas Center on Saturday. Watertown is heading to the TD Garden in Boston for the EMass final on Tuesday. On Saturday in Lowell, senior point guard Cesar Fulcar and sophomore guard Brednan Hoban led the way for the Raiders, with 15 and 14 points respectively.

One Watertown Team Moves On, One Season Over

The Watertown boy’s basketball team won in the state tournament on Wednesday, while the girl’s hockey team fell. The Raiders basketball team beat Bedford 68-50 in the North Section semifinal at Woburn High School. Watertown now heads to Lowell’s Tsongas Center for the Div. 3 section final on Saturday at 12:15 p.m. against Stoneham. The girl’s hockey team’s run ended with a 1-0 loss to Duxbury in the Div.

Successful Weekend for Watertown High School Teams

The Raiders basketball and ice hockey teams all enjoyed wins in their first games in the MIAA state tournament over the weekend. Basketball

The boy’s basketball team rolled over Saugus, and almost doubled their opponents score in the 79-45 win at Watertown High School. The second seeded Raiders next face Bedford in the Div. 3 North Section semifinals. The game will be played Wednesday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Woburn.
