Watertown LibraryThe Watertown Library is collecting images and stories about the city’s recent history. WFPL is embarking on a mission to collect stories and images from Watertown’s recent history, from 1950 to the present day, and we need your help! Want to volunteer for the Library and help preserve the story of Watertown’s diverse community? Join our corps of Digitization Day volunteers in 2022. Sign up now on our volunteer page. Coming up this month, learn about the language of cults with Amanda Montell, join the Zinesters’ Club (open to teens and adults), or attend a Coffeehouse Concert at WFPL with free refreshments from O’Some Café!

Watertown Library Hosting Brighter Futures Career Job Fair

If you would like to get into the job market quickly, you may want to consider a technical or specialty program. These training programs vary widely in majors, length of programs, cost, and other characteristics, but they have one thing in common: an emphasis on hands-on training for a specific career. On Sunday, Nov. 14, the Watertown Free Public Library is hosting the Brighter Futures Career Fair — an opportunity for teens and adults to learn about technical and vocational opportunities in a wide array disciplines, all in one place. This is event is perfect for anyone interested in a specialty profession such as nursing, culinary arts, cosmetics, engineering, accounting, or auto mechanics.

Watertown Free Public LibraryThe Watertown Free Public Library. Watertown voters will be selecting the Trustees for the Watertown Free Public Library on Nov. 2. There are three spots available in the 2021 election. The Board of Library Trustees oversees the budget for the Watertown Library and works with the Library staff on how to spend the budget, as well as working on special projects and initiatives at the library.

Welcome to fall! We have a full calendar of children’s programs coming up including Chinese Acrobatics, Music with Matt Heaton, and Baby Story Time. Front Lawn Story Time will continue outside on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11 AM. 

Also this month, Chaya Milchtein of Mechanic Shop Femme is back by popular demand to offer A Deeper Dive Into Car Ownership. Teens will get a chance to learn Special Effects Makeup and Gore just in time for Halloween. For Children

Music with Matt HeatonSaturday, 10/16 | 10 AM | In the Library | Matt Heaton plays kid-friendly, original folk and surf-inspired songs with a few re-worked hits. Come early and sing along! Registration required.

On Saturday, October 2, The Watertown Free Public Library will host WFPL Zine Fest — a day-long celebration of zine culture and DIY publishing. Whether you are a die-hard zinester, or just want to learn what zines are and why they matter, the Library invites you to browse the marketplace, attend talks, and check out the brand-new circulating zine collection. If you’re asking “what’s a zine?” that’s ok.

Watertown Library Will Start Requiring Masks for In-Person Visits

Watertown LibraryThe Watertown Free Public Library. The Watertown Library sent out the following information:

Beginning Monday, August 9, face masks will be required for all people ages two and older inside the Library. Current Library Hours:

Monday – Thursday: 9 AM – 9 PMFriday: 9 AM – 7 PMSaturday: 9 AM – 5 PMSunday: 1 PM – 5 PM

You are required to:

Wear a mask while using the children’s room, regardless of vaccination status. Follow CDC and Massachusetts mask and social distancing guidance for unvaccinated people.Beginning Monday, 8/9/21, masks will be required for all people ages two and older in the Library. 

Available Services

Library services have resumed. Library programming will be offered via Zoom and in-person outdoors through the summer. Meeting and study rooms are available for public use.
