Two Local Leaders on Chamber’s Panel for Most Influential Business People of Color

The leader of a Watertown-based theatre company and a vice president at Tufts Health Plan will be a panelists for the Newton-Needham Regional Chamber’s 50 Most Influential Business People of Color event. Michael Bobbitt, who took over as artistic director at NewRep in August 2019, will be one of five people on the panel at the event that will take place virtually on Nov. 12. He will be joined by Juan Lopera, vice president of marketing and Rhode Island Medicare at Tufts Health Plan, headquartered on Mt. Auburn Street.

Watertown Martial Arts Instructor Nominated for National Award, See How to Vote

Watertown martial arts instructor Michael Pepe has been nominated for a national award, and people can vote through Nov. 16. A Watertown martial arts instructor has been nominated for a national instructor of the year award, and people can vote online through mid-November. Watertown’s Michael Pepe, from the Shorin-ryu Karatedo and Kubudo Association of America, received a nomination for the 2020 Greatmats National Striking Martial Arts Instructor of the Year. Pepe grew up and Watertown and retired from the Watertown Fire Department after a 31-year career, according to his biography on the SKKAA website.

Photo Exhibit at Watertown Library Extended, Captures Images of New England Coast

One of the photos that will be in Joseph Weiler’s exhibit at the Watertown Library, “Bluenose II.” The “New England Coast: Islands, Schooners & Ocean” photo exhibit at the Watertown Public Library has been extended for two weeks. The Exhibit will close on Nov. 14. The exhibit features the work of Watertown photographer Joseph Weiler and had originally be scheduled to run in the month of October.
