DCR Announces Arsenal Street Lane Closures Beginning This Week

A lane will be closed on the east end of Arsenal Street, the Mass. Department of Conservation and Recreation announced. The DCR sent out the following announcement:

Beginning on Monday, August 21, 2023, and continuing through Friday, September 8, 2023, the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will close the right lane of Arsenal Street (westbound) from Greenough Boulevard to Greenough Boulevard in the Town of Watertown to accommodate curbing and guardrail installation work. Traffic patterns will be clearly marked, and a police detail will be on site.  

WHERE: Arsenal Street (westbound) from Greenough Boulevard to Greenough Boulevard in the Town of Watertown 

WHEN: Monday, August 21, 2023 – Friday, September 8, 2023

Watertown Summer Basketball League Final Going to Deciding Game 3

Number 2 seed and defending champion New Day forced a deciding Game 3 to even the 2023 Watertown Recreation Summer Basketball League Championship series following a 62-54 comeback, victory in overtime over top seed Donohue’s Kaos Club. Trailing by six, 27-21, at halftime, New Day went on an extended run midway through the second half. Stonehill graduate Andre Tongo was the spark in New Day’s comeback, dropping 13 of his team-high 15 points in the second half. Amherst’s Johnny McCarthy followed up with 12 points, while Akeem Williams rounded out the trio in double figures with 10 points.

Bob is also on the board of the Watertown Historic District Commission. He is a genealogist (his contact information is on our website) and has written several book reviews and newspaper articles. Hockey Tryouts for Small Saves in This Week’s Cartoon

James DeMarco grew up in Watertown and became a goaltender at age 5. It’s his life’s passion to stand between the pipes and keep the puck out of the net. Combining this with the love of cartooning Small Saves emerged in 1991 and took on a life of his own. “To play goal – then come home and draw Small Saves — is my ideal definition of a good day.”

Donohue’s Kaos Club Dominates Game 1 of Summer Basketball Finals, Game 2 Thursday

The top-seeded Donohue’s Kaos Club proved why they were the number one seed, opening the 2023 Watertown Papas Elite Men’s Basketball League Championship Finals with a 67-49 win over New Day. Donohue’s carries the 1-0 series advantage into game two of the best of three Championship Finals. Dartmouth College alum Miles Wright was red-hot from the perimeter, scoring 12 of his game-high 18 points in the first half to give Donohue’s the 33-16 lead at half-time.
