Help shape Watertown’s future in the areas of open space, community housing, outdoor recreation, and historic preservation. Learn about the first Watertown Community Preservation Act (CPA) projects to be recommended for funding in the process too. Please take a few minutes to complete our survey to inform the Community Preservation Committee (CPC) in updating the Community Preservation Plan. According to CPA law, we must hold a public hearing and prepare an annual update of the Preservation Plan—that means hearing from you. Watertown Yoga Studio Hosting Benefit to Support Relief Efforts in Ukraine

Watertown’s Artemis Yoga will host classes to raise funds to provide relief to Ukraine. The following information was provided by Artemis Yoga:

Please join us Saturday, April 9 for an afternoon of benefit classes to support relief efforts in Ukraine. At its essence, yoga is about community and a desire to be of service to others. There is so much need in the world and the recent events in Ukraine have been so quickly unfolding that it can feels like a small part that we can do act with compassion and support. Artemis Yoga has put together an afternoon of specialty classes for you to enjoy while also supporting with donations to #ChefsForUkraine through World Central Kitchen.

SPEAK Week Returns to Watertown High School, 2022’s Theme: Strive to Thrive

Watertown Youth Coalition Peer Leaders and Wayside staff with Wes from Minding Your Mind. The 12th annual SPEAK Week was back at Watertown High School (WHS) March 14-18 !! SPEAK(Sharing Personal Experiences and Knowledge) Week is organized by Wayside Multi Service Center’s Watertown Youth Coalition (WYC) Peer Leaders from WHS. Every year, in collaboration with Watertown High School, WYC Peer Leaders organize a fun-filled and educational week with special guest speakers, activities, and knowledge building that relate to helping youth make positive healthy choices. For this year’s SPEAK Week; themed “Strive to Thrive,” students engaged in assemblies, workshops, and activities throughout the week that addressed Mental Health and Wellness, LGBTQIA Safe Spaces, Mindfulness and Stress Reduction, Therapeutic Music, Speak Up Art Sessions and a visit from Lydia the Comfort Dog.

Watertown Community Foundation Seeks Applications for $125K in Spring Grants

The Watertown Community Foundation (WCF) announces two Spring 2022 grant programs to support local nonprofits, community-based organizations, programs, and projects.  Approximately $125,000 will be distributed. WCF’s Program Grants will support organizations that serve Watertown to develop new or continue existing programs with an educational focus (broadly defined) and do not involve Watertown’s public schools.  Eligible organizations may apply for grants of $500 up to $5,000. WCF’s Institutional Support Grants are designed to help institutions central to the Watertown community by providing funds to maintain critical programming, staff, and cover operating costs. Grants under this program impose neither restrictions on the use of funds nor any program requirements. Eligible organizations may apply for grants of up to $7,500.

Watertown Fitness Studio Offers Free Mother’s Day Event to Support Food Pantry

Get Lively health and fitness coach Jan Taylor will be offering a free Mother’s Day Bootcamp which will benefit the Watertown Food Pantry. The following announcement was provided by Get Lively:

Watertown-based Get Lively®: Health & Fitness (Get Lively) is offering a free bootcamp-style class for all fitness levels on Sunday, May 8 from 9 to 10:30 a.m., followed by coffee and brunch bites. People are encouraged to bring someone with them: a mother, sister, friend or anyone else. All are welcome.
