Adult COVID Vaccine Booster Clinic Offered by Health Department

The following information was provided by the Watertown Health Department:

The Watertown Health Department will be hosting an Adult Moderna Booster Clinic on Saturday, June 25, 2022 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Watertown Public Library on the first floor in the Watertown Savings Bank Meeting Room, 123 Main St., Watertown, MA 02472. Registration information. Below is the updated booster eligibility:

CDC recommends everyone ages 5 years and older receive a COVID-19 vaccine booster after completing their primary COVID-19 vaccination series. Some people should receive two boosters. You can mix and match vaccines.

Learn About Bees Native to the Area with Watertown Friends of Bees

Our June Monthly Meeting will be hosted by our Friends of Bees working group. Pollinator Week begins on June 20. To get you ready, the head of Friends of Bees, Pam Phillips, will introduce you to our local native bee populations. June Monthly Meeting: Meet your local bees! There are roughly 20,000 species of bees in the world, about 4,000 in North America, and about 400 in Massachusetts.

Touch-a-Truck Event Coming to Watertown Public Works

The Watertown Department of Public Works invites the public to a free event where they can get an up-close look at a variety of trucks and vehicles. The DPW sent out the following information:

Touch-A-Truck is on Saturday, June 18, 2022, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Department of Public Works (DPW), located at 124 Orchard St. in Watertown. (Next to Victory Field). Free admission. Look inside and explore some of the coolest vehicles including construction trucks, firetrucks, and recycling trucks.

Comic: Small Saves Has a Disagreement with the Puck

James DeMarco grew up in Watertown and became a goaltender at age 5. It’s his life’s passion to stand between the pipes and keep the puck out of the net. Combining this with the love of cartooning Small Saves emerged in 1991 and took on a life of his own. “To play goal–then come home and draw Small Saves — is my ideal definition of a good day.”

Art, Poetry & Comics Featured at Watertown Gallery’s Exhibit

Franklin Einspruch’s “Aquinnah 2021-8-17” is one of the pieces on display at Storefront Art Projects in Watertown. The following announcement was provided by Storefront Art Projects:

Watertown art gallery Storefront Art Projects is pleased to present Across and Within: Paintings and Comics Poetry by Franklin Einspruch. Franklin Einspruch is a Painter (over 50 group and solo shows), Poet (The Moon Fell On Me, Cloud on a Mountain and an anthology of Comics as Poetry with his imprint, New Modern Press), Art Critic (Delicious Line, New Criterion, Art in America, The Art Fuse), Editor (Aphorisms for Artists: 100 Ways Toward Better Art by Walter Darby Bannard ), Blogger (Artblog.net), and recent Fulbright scholar. He pursues a wide variety of drawing and painting mediums, some of which he makes himself in a “pared down style of outlines and filled-in colors, subtly modulated. The resulting works on paper are poems of hues with readable if understated stories.”

He is a confrontative critic, but his paintings are tender examinations of landscape from Aquinnah on Martha’s Vineyard to Mt.

Mosesian Center for the Arts Hosting Pride Weekend Festival

The Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown has announced events for a Pride Weekend festival and other programs, performances, and exhibitions for June and beyond. “We’re thrilled to see more people returning to live events and classes,” said Executive Director Darren Farrington. “Every month, we offer a diverse variety of the best in performing and visual arts that Greater Boston has to offer, and we hope people will take advantage of the easy access to the arts at the Arsenal.”

Pride Weekend

On June 17-18, Boston drag and cabaret star Patty Bourrée returns to Mosesian Arts for her Last Pride on Earth. Intergalactic war, famine, and disease may have left Patty as the last queen standing on a now desolate planet, but naturally, she’s taking this as an opportunity to stage a final Pride Parade for a party of one. Journey with Patty and a cast of glamorously bizarre characters (all played by Patty, of course!) to a not-so-distant apocalyptic future in this all live-sung drag cabaret fit for the end of days. June 17 & 18, 8:00 PM.

Watertown Pottery Studio Hosting Spring into Summer Sale

Indigo Fire will host the “Spring into Summer” pottery sale at its Watertown studio. The event will be held at the studio located at 79R Grove St. in Watertown on Saturday, June 11 from 1-5 p.m. It is free and open to all. More than 20 artists will show and sell their work, and those interested can find out about classes available at the studio. “Our goal is to provide a friendly, non-intimidating environment for those interested in learning pottery.

Residents Can Dispose of Household Hazardous Waste, Pre-registration Required

Watertown residents can dispose of household hazardous waste, such as garden chemicals, batteries, and motor oil over on June 11. The Watertown Department of Public Works provided the following information:

The next Household Hazardous Waste Collection will be on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the Minuteman Household Hazardous Products Regional Facility at the Lexington Compost Facility, 60 Hartwell Avenue, Lexington, MA 02421 from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM. 

Hazardous Waste Collection requires online pre-registration. Proposed 2022 Hazardous Waste Collection dates are below. The Collection will be between 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
