Two Doctors from Watertown Join Mount Auburn Hospital Staff

Watertown residents, Nissa J. Ali, MD, M.Ed and Alden P. Doerner Rinaldi, MD have recently joined Mount Auburn Hospital, according to officials. Dr. Ali will specialize in Emergency Medicine and Dr. Rinaldi will specialize in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Nissa J. Ali, MD, M.Ed of Watertown. Dr. Ali received her Medical Degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. She completed the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Stop & Shop Manager Thanked for Donating Kids’ Daily Snacks

Recently, Watertown Boys & Girls Club members received a visit from Steve Farley, the General Manager of Stop & Shop on Pleasant Street in Watertown, according to the Club. Members were very excited to see the man responsible for providing them with fresh fruit every day! Starting in September of this year, Steve worked to develop a partnership between his store and the Boys & Girls Club. When he reached out to see how his store could help the Club, Executive Director, Renee Gaudette, explained their need for healthy after-school snacks. Steve generously agreed to donate boxes of apples, bananas, and oranges to the Club on a weekly basis.

OBIT: Rose DiZacomo, 85, Gardener, Elvis Fan, Worked at BU Bookstore

A celebration for the life of Rose M. (Yannino) DiZacomo will be held on Monday January 30, 2017 in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown at 11 a.m.

Mrs. DiZacomo passed away in her home on Wednesday morning after a long period of declining heath. She is a daughter of the late Frank and Maria (Parise) Yannino. She was 85. Born in Roxbury, her family moved to Newton, then to Watertown at a very early age. She attended Watertown Schools.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Patrick Church, Watertown on Friday at 11 a.m. for Muriel A. (Gravel) Gildea. Mrs. Gildea, a daughter of the late Eugene and Aurore (Valois) Gravel, passed away in the Belmont Manor Nursing Center after a period of declining health. She was 88. Born in Woonsocket, R.I., Muriel graduated from St. Patrick High School, Watertown.

Group Meeting to Discuss Noise from Airplanes from Logan Airport

Residents can come discuss the impact of noise from airplanes over Watertown at an upcoming meeting of the Boston West Fair Skies group. Organizers sent out the following information:

Boston West Fair Skies (BWFS) will hold its monthly meeting Wednesday, January 25 in Winchester. BWFS works towards redistributing airplane noise more fairly among our communities. Wednesday, January 25th, 2017, 7-8:30 p.m., Winchester Public Library, 80 Washington St. Winchester

We are a citizens grassroots organization which includes Arlington, Belmont, Cambridge, Medford, Somerville, Watertown and Winchester – all communities affected by the increased airplane noise due to the implementation of 33L RNAV (using GPS) departures at Boston Logan Airport.

East Watertown Yoga Studio Celebrates One Year Anniversary

Artemis Yoga celebrated its one-year anniversary in East End Watertown on Mt. Auburn Street in Coolidge Square with an open house on January 7-8, 2017. The festivities which drew a crowd of nearly 200 attendees included 2 days of free yoga classes, live music, a raffle benefiting the Watertown Boy and Girls Club, free chair massage, Green Light juice samples and delicious Dosha Bars, according to Artemis. Liz Padula opened Artemis Yoga in East End Watertown because of the vibe and growth of the area. “It is a great neighborhood with so much energy,” says Liz.
