Watertown High School Students Competed for Spot on WGBH TV Quiz Show

The team from Watertown High School that competed for a spot on WGBH’s High School Quiz Show. A group of Watertown High School students recently competed at WGBH’s studio to be part of the High School Quiz Show. WGBH provide the following information:

On Sunday, Oct. 20, Watertown High School visited WGBH’s Brighton studios to participate in Super Sunday, the qualification round of WGBH’s High School Quiz Show. High School Quiz Show is a televised quiz competition between Massachusetts high school students entering its 11th season of broadcast on WGBH. On Super Sunday, student teams come to the studio to take a 45-minute quiz with hopes of placing on to the broadcast.

Young Watertown Actors Join Cast of WCT’s “In the Heights”

Watertown Children’s Theatre presents a little slice of New York City in the MainStage Theater at the Mosesian Center for the Arts with In the Heights. The sixth-12th grade cast of In the Heights, featuring Watertown residents Aidan Alvarado, Saro Iskenderian, Tamsin Lepera, Ella Meshoulam, Bianca Skraly, and Maya Wilson celebrates community, roots, and chasing your dreams in this contemporary musical on Nov. 15 at 7 p.m., November 16 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. in the MainStageTheater, Dorothy and Charles Mosesian Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal St., Watertown.  This production contains mature content and may not be appropriate for all audience members. Small Saves: How To Wash Away a Bad Game

James DeMarco grew up in Watertown and became a goaltender at age 5. It’s his life’s passion to stand between the pipes and keep the puck out of the net. Combining this with the love of cartooning,  Small Saves  emerged in 1991 and took on a life of his own. “To play goal–then come home and draw Small Saves — is my ideal definition of a good day.”

Folk Musician Eric Kilburn Holding CD Release Party in Watertown

Folk musician Eric Kilburn will be performing in Watertown at the Tremedal Concerts. On Saturday, Nov. 2, Eric Kilburn will have a CD release performance as part of the Tremedal Concerts. Kilburn is known for his Wellspring Sound facility, one of the finest and best equipped in New England, and he also is an accomplished mandolin player. He has played withSwing Cafe, Meeting Across the Water, Deborah Silverstein and the Band of Erics, along with hits guest soloist appearances.

3 Murals Inspired by Watertown Going up at Arsenal Yards, Stores Opening Soon

Three murals will be created at Arsenal Yards by, from left to right, artist Louise ‘Ouizi’ Jones, painter Kim Carlino, and artist Felipe Ortiz. The first stores at Arsenal Yards, the project renovating the former mall, will be opening in coming weeks, and the mixed-use project will also feature murals inspired by Watertown created by three artists, according to owners of the mall. Arsenal Yards is installing three large-scale murals at various locations around the property, coinciding with the Fall 2019 debut of its first round of restaurants and retailers. Inspired in part by the lush natural beauty of Arsenal Park, the Charles River, and the history of its distinctive East End Watertown location, the mural artworks are currently being created by locally and nationally recognized artists commissioned by Arsenal Yards. Creating a vibrant and eclectic environment, one that includes one-of-a-kind public artworks, is part of the plan to make Arsenal Yards a new and unique urban village.
