Hear About How Revolutionary War Started at Historical Society Annual Meeting

The Historical Society of Watertown invites the public to its annual meeting, where a special presentation will be made about the beginnings of the Revolutionary War. The following information was provided by the Historical Society of Watertown:

The Historical Society of Watertown’s 2019 Annual Meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. followed at 7:15 p.m. by author J.L. Bell’s slideshow presentation on “The Road to Concord: How Four Stolen Cannon Ignited the Revolutionary War.”

It will take place on Wednesday, May 8 at the Watertown Free Public Library in the Watertown Savings Bank Room, 123 Main Street, Watertown, MA 02472. Copies of Mr. Bell’s book will be available for purchase. Free and open to the public. Sponsored by the Historical Society of Watertown.

Groups Can Register to be in Watertown’s Memorial Day Parade

Watertown Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts marched in the Memorial Day Parade. Watertown’s Memorial Day Parade will be held on May 27, 2019, and groups can now register to participate in the annual event. The Town of Watertown provided the following information:

Join with members of your company, organization, neighborhood, friends and family to participate in the parade! Fill out the attached registration form and return it marked ‘Memorial Day Parade Registration’ to: The Town of Watertown, Veteran’s Services, 149 Main Street, Watertown, MA 02472 or email: townmgr@watertown-ma.gov

Parade registrations are due no later than May 20, 2019. The parade begins at noon, but check in starts at 10:30 a.m. near the Tufts Health Plan garage on Grove Street.

Friends Remember Richard Marcus, a Passionate Leader of Local Progressives

Richard Marcus, a leader of the local Progressive political group, passed away at the age of 71. Friends and supporters of the progressive political movement in Watertown are mourning the loss of one of its most active and powerful voices. This week, Richard Marcus passed away at the age of 71. He supporting Democratic and Progressive candidates and issues in town, in Massachusetts and nationally. He also started the Progressive Watertown Group.
