Watertown Police Hosting 5K Run/Walk to Recapture the Watertown Strong Spirit

The Watertown Police will once again commemorate the Watertown Strong spirit with the sixth annual Watertown Police Finish Strong 5K Run/Walk. The Watertown Police Relief Association, Watertown Supervisors Association and Watertown Patrol officers Association will commemorate the sixth anniversary of the events that led to the capture of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects by inviting the community to fill the streets of Watertown in a 5K celebratory road race and walk. The proceeds will benefit the Watertown Police Relief Association, the Watertown Police Association, and the Watertown Police Supervisors Association. The WPRA assists families of deceased members, and protects and promotes the social and economic welfare of their families and dependents.

Applications for Summer Recreation Employment Available

The following announcement was provided by the Watertown Recreation Department:

The Watertown Recreation Department is now accepting applications for the following positions for the 2019 calendar year. This includes immediate employment as a part time member of the staff throughout the year or seasonal work during the summer months. Applicants must be entering the 9th grade (Fall 2019) or older to be considered. If you are looking for employment to begin before the summer season, please complete and send it the packet and an interview will be scheduled with the Director of Recreation. Positions Available: Program Directors, Program Supervisors, Program Staff, Program Counselors, Counselor in Training, Nurse, Specialists, Pequossette Staff, Park Instructors, Program Staff, Park Rangers, and Scorekeepers.

Flint Water Crisis to be Discussed at Local Church Program

Watertown Cub Scouts Revved Up for the Pinewood Derby, Interest in Scouting Growing

Watertown Cub Scouts crowded around the track to cheer on their cars during the 2019 Cub Scout Pinewood Derby at Hosmer Elementary School. The anticipation built and young racing fans crowded the steel track set up in the Hosmer School cafeteria. Cheers erupted when the first wave of wooden cars sped down their lane in the Watertown Cub Scout Pack 30 Pinewood Derby on Tuesday night. The Pinewood Derby was weeks in the making. Each of the 50+ Scouts crafted their cars from pieces of wood and plastic wheels attached with nails.

Local Church Hosting Ash Wednesday Services

Watertown Youth Coalition Holding Town Hall, Performing with Improbable Players

The Watertown Youth Coalition will host a Town Hall Meeting to present the results of the Well Being of Watertown Youth survey, and a theatrical presentation. Along with the presentation of the survey results of the Watertown Youth Coalition Peer Leaders will make their theatrical debut with the Improbable Players. The event will be on Wednesday, March 20, from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Watertown Free Public Library, 123 Main St., Watertown. To register go to http://bit.ly/wyctownhall.
