Hockey Tryouts for Small Saves in This Week’s Cartoon

James DeMarco grew up in Watertown and became a goaltender at age 5. It’s his life’s passion to stand between the pipes and keep the puck out of the net. Combining this with the love of cartooning Small Saves emerged in 1991 and took on a life of his own. “To play goal – then come home and draw Small Saves — is my ideal definition of a good day.”

Watertown Fire Awards Presented for Response to Heart Attack, a Woman Giving Birth & a Girl Stuck in a Duct

Watertown Firefighters, Watertown Police officers, and public safety dispatchers who went above and beyond in three incidents received service awards from the Watertown Fire Department this week. Fire Chief Ryan Nicholson presented the awards during Tuesday’s ceremony where Nicholson and other members of the WFD who received promotions were sworn in. The awards were approved by votes of the Commendation Board of the Watertown Fire Department. “These members acted with great distinction and heroism in the saving of a human life,” Nicholson said.

Brigham House Hosting Young Families for End of Summer Event

ACEC Hosting an Evening of Armenian Wine and Jazz

Watertown Fitness Studio Hosting Free Dirty Dancing Workout & Social

Watertown’s Get Lively Health and Fitness Studio will be hosting a free inspired summer social event inspired by the movie “Dirty Dancing.” The studio invites the public to come join a later summer social and enjoy a workout featuring some dance inspired moves to the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. The free community event will be on Thursday, Aug. 24 from 6-7 p.m. at Get Lively, located at 25 Clarendon St. The event is for ages 12+

Watertown Cable Channels Going Off Air During Move

The following announcement was provided by Watertown Cable Access TV:

WCA-TV channels will be off air from August 22 through August 25, 2023. What this means is that their channels will be down on cable as well as online through their Video on Demand (VOD) service. This is a planned outage due to WCA-TV’s relocation to the Phillips Administration Building at 30 Common St. While we will not be running programming 24/7 on cable or on demand during this time, any and all scheduled live programming will be streamed on our website at wcatv.org/government. Please keep an eye out on WCA-TV’s social media pages, newsletter, and website for up to date information regarding off air time.
