With temperatures forecast to reach 100 degrees this week, the City of Watertown has compiled a list of places to keep cool during the heatwave.

Watertown’s Eileen Ryan was one of 147 women from across Massachusetts to be nominated for the Commonwealth Heroine Award. She was nominated by State Sen. Will Brownsberger. Watertown High School students, alumni, and parents of students who took part in the Armenian language program urged School officials to bolster the program for fear of losing the classes that are more than just about learning a language.

David Barth did not take the most direct route to becoming Perkins School for the Blind’s President and CEO, but he told Watertown News that the work helping some of the most vulnerable children get the education, services, and rights that they deserve is something he has done during his whole career.
Mount Auburn Hospital, along with Terry Eagan and Patio Records, are pleased to be presenting the 20th Annual Healing Garden Music Fest on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, the hospital announced.

The third annual Crazy Color Fun Run is sponsored by the PTO organizations of the Hosmer, Cunniff and Lowell Schools in Watertown to raise money for our schools. All donations go toward academic and cultural enrichment activities at the elementary schools.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) has notified the Watertown Health Department that due to the presence of human cases of West Nile Virus (WNV) in the area, the risk level for West Nile Virus has been elevated to High. Mosquitoes in the area have tested positive for West Nile Virus, and personal protection against mosquito exposure has been advised for most of the summer.
The Watertown Saturday Toastmasters invite the public to their upcoming open house on Oct. 1.
Saturday’s mostly sunny weather provided a pleasant day to come enjoy the annual Faire on the Square, where people enjoyed games, music, dancing, crafts and lots of food.
