As the temperatures rose to dangerous levels in the first week of July, a group in Watertown leapt into action delivering air conditioners to those who need them, and which had been donated by other residents.

The City Council will not be meeting it the usual place on July 14. The meeting will be held in the Parker Building at 7 p.m. The meeting includes a votes to set next year’s water and sewer rates, on proposed changes to the Noise Ordinance, and a presentation about the City’s Hazard Mitigation Plan.

A short film shot during the Pandemic, whose cast includes a Watertown filmmaker and her son, made its world premier in Ireland in May and will be part of several film festivals around the United States.

In the days after the former 13 colonies declared their independence from Britain 250 years ago, Watertown had a moment. The town outside Boston became the center of government in Massachusetts, and two historic firsts took place right near Watertown Square. However, these occasions got lost in the ether somewhere between George Washington and George H.W. Bush. It took some people with long memories to rekindle the connection between Watertown and the indigenous tribes on both sides of the Canadian border. This July 18th, Watertown will celebrate the 250th anniversary of these historic moments with the descendants of those present in 1776.
During this holiday season, the joy of giving and receiving gifts is what drives the cheer and community of Watertown, but not everyone is so fortunate. That is why Toys for Tots was created, which has been able to distribute over 469 million toys to children thanks to the help of kindhearted people all over the country.
Led by two goals from senior co-captain Ally McCall, the Watertown field hockey team is headed back to Worcester for an eighth straight state final after beating Hanover Tuesday night.
The holidays are right around the corner and lights, decorations and more have started to appear at homes around Watertown. Watertown Realtor Bob Airasian seeks the best Holiday Light and Decorations, and the winner will get a prize, and a donation to their favorite local charity.
Watertown will soon have a modern multi-fitness trainer at Moxley Field, and a celebration is planned for the debut, featuring area college athletes.
The pedestrian bridge over the Charles River west of Watertown Square will be replaced by the Department of Conservation and Recreation.
The annual Watertown Tree Lighting Ceremony will be hosted by the Watertown-Belmont Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Watertown on Dec. 4.
A film about the a small town in Turkey, from ancient times through the Armenian Genocide, will be presented by the Historical Society of Watertown at the Watertown Free Public Library.
Throughout the month of October, Komen Massahusetts partnered with Lexus of Watertown to encourage local gentlemen to step up and become a champion for the cause.
