Despite an uncertain economic future, Watertown remains on solid ground, City Manager George Proakis said during Monday’s State of the City Address. He and City Council President Mark Sideris went into depth about the economic factors impacting the City during the annual address.

The City Council will be weighing in on a 39-page document that sets the rules for how Watertown’s appointed committees and municipal departments operate. Some changes proposed include changing the length of terms for some committees, who appoints members of certain committees, and how to remove members of committees.
As the Nov. 4 Watertown Municipal Election approaches, Watertown News and Watertown Cable Access TV will host a series of candidate forums for the local races, including the City Council and School Committee.

The Watertown Historical Commission awarded the 2023 Historical Preservation Awards at a ceremony held at Gore Place’s Carriage House on May 18.

On Juneteenth, New England Black Circus, New England’s only circus show from the diaspora, will perform at the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown.

When the Watertown High School girls lacrosse team defeated Medway 8-5 on Saturday, the Raiders booked a trip to Nantucket for a Round of 16 contest in the MIAA Div. 4 Tournament.
The Watertown Business Coalition will be hosting an after hours networking event at Donohue’s Bar & Grill, and will kick off the new Walk ‘N’ Talk series with a walk beginning at Arsenal Yards.
This year’s Juneteenth Celebration will expand to include not just two communities but will be held over two days.
