The City of Watertown will have a new set of goals used to create the annual budget and make decisions about how municipal departments operate, City Manager City Manager George Proakis said during Tuesday’s State of the City presentation. During the address, he and City Council President Mark Sideris also discussed the Charter Review set to happen in 2026, and the possibility of having a Post Office in the center of town.

The City Council will be weighing in on a 39-page document that sets the rules for how Watertown’s appointed committees and municipal departments operate. Some changes proposed include changing the length of terms for some committees, who appoints members of certain committees, and how to remove members of committees.

Watertown Police announced that the Watertown man reported missing on March 7 has been located out of state and is safe. His family has been notified.

Watertown’s trash and recycling contract is up for renewal, and City officials are trying to do more to reduce the amount of trash being thrown out and increase the amount of recycling as rates increase.

Having survived a double overtime in the first round of the MIAA Div. 3 State Tournament, the Watertown High School boys hockey team skated to a relatively easy victory Saturday night, putting half a dozen goals on the scoreboard against Dracut/Tyngsboro. The Raiders won the Round of 16 game 6-2 at John A. Ryan Arena.
Residents can give input on the primary planning document that will shape development in Watertown for years to come. An open house will be held on March 9 about the revised Watertown Comprehensive Plan.
