Art from Many Major Artists to be Displayed at Armenian Museum in Watertown

The Armenian Museum of America will host an exhibition of artwork from some of the top artists of the late 20th Century called “On the Edge: Los Angeles Art 1970s – 1990s from the Joan and Jack Quinn Family. There will be a companion exhibition featuring Armenian artists. The Armenian Museum provided the following information:

This exhibition, our largest in 50 years, features more than 75 artists including Lita Albuquerque, John Altoon, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Lynda Benglis, Vija Celmins, Gregory Wiley Edwards, Frank Gehry, Helmut Newton, Ed Ruscha, and Andy Warhol.Curated by Rachel McCullah Wainwright. The companion exhibition, “Discovering Takouhi: Portraits of Joan Agajanian Quinn,” will include Armenian artists such as Dahlia Elsayed, Jean Kazanjian, Silvina Der Meguerditchian, Ara Oshagan, Zaven Sarkissian, and Aram Saroyan. Curated by Gina Grigorian and Natalie Varbedian.

Mosesian Center Presenting New Art Exhibit “Across Cultures: Invisible Ties and Journeys of Hope”

Across Cultures: Invisible Ties and Journeys of Hope

Opening Reception: Thursday, May 26, 5:30–7:30 PM

Across Cultures: Invisible Ties and Journeys of Hope, the upcoming exhibition at Mosesian Arts, reflects on ideas of displacement, migration, immigration, and the complexity of navigating different cultures. In this group exhibition, artists address issues from how moving geographically shapes one’s cultural identity, to the discourse around immigration in the last few years, to bringing awareness to diverse points of view. It was juried by Lebanon-born and Boston-based artists Rania Matar.

Watertown Art Teacher Offering Classes on Watercolor Cards and Painting

“The Wayside Inn” by Audrey Jones Childs. Watertown artist Audrey Jones Childs announced she will be hold two watercolor workshops, a one-day card class and a six-week watercolor painting class. Registration fee: $5.00 + $1.00 per card w/ envelope (If possible, bring your own watercolor paint and brushes.)

YardArt Bike Tour Visits Several Locations Around Watertown

YardArtThe bike tour of YardArt visits a Watertown home with a display. On Sunday, March 27, a group of Watertown residents hopped on their bicycles and took a tour of the homes in town participating in YardArt 2022. “The bike ride on Sunday was a huge success. There were more than 25 cyclists ranging in age from 6-73,” YardArt organizers said. YardArtThe tour of YardArt 2022 started at the Deluxe Town Diner. The tour visited several sites that put in art installations for the second annual spring celebration of art.

Mosesian Center Hosting Bollywood Band, The Who’s “Tommy,” and Art Classes this Spring

The Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown has announced a spring season of arts education programs, performances, and exhibitions for diverse art enthusiasts and creators of every age and type. “We’re thrilled to see more people returning to live events and classes,” said Executive Director Darren Farrington. “We offer so much to do, see, learn, and create at Mosesian Arts this spring, and we hope people will take advantage of the easy access to the arts at the Arsenal.”

Arts Education

Spring classes in visual and performing arts begin on April 5. Mosesian Arts offers adult courses in drawing, painting, mindful arts, and a popular class in developing your sketchbook. Youth classes include comics, soft sculpture, bookmaking, exploring art, and developing creativity!

Watertown Gallery Participating in YardArt 2022, Donating Part of Sales to Ukraine

Celebrate Spring, Celebrate Community! Yardart is an annual Watertown event sponsored by the Mosesian Arts Center with town-wide home, porch and gallery participation. 

Storefront ArtProjects is showcasing its own ebullient and joyful mix of homegrown and visiting talent in fiber, collage, sculpture, printmaking and painting by 9 adults and 9 children. And 25% of all sales will be donated to help Ukraine. People cross the street to peer in the storefront windows!
