Live Well Watertown will host a series of bike events, beginning in April with an event focused on getting back on your bike, or getting started biking. MassBike will lead an informative and beginner-friendly presentation covering:

• The ABCs of biking

• How to choose the best bike for new or returning riders (including rental options)

• The importance of wearing helmets

• And other essential tips to help you ride safely and confidently

About the Community Bike Series:

This program series is free and open to cyclists of all experience levels, including beginners. The series offers safety-focused and practical information for everyday biking, including bike commuting tips, guidance on choosing the right bike, and ways to get started riding for recreation and health.

Learn Tips for Living Longer, Join the Winter Biking Basics Webinar

Live Well Watertown has an in-person event about the Blue Zones, places in the world where people live longest, as well as an online info session about bicycling in the winter. See more information provided by the City of Watertown, below. Join us as we partner with the City of Watertown’s Live Well program to screen and discuss the Blue Zone Netflix Documentary. The film highlights five unique communities where people live longer better. The evening will include discussion, resources, and tips about longevity shared by five areas around the world.

First Public Meeting on Watertown Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan Coming Up

Find out about the Watertown Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan and share your experiences to identify priorities and problem areas in Town. Town officials provided the following information:

The meeting will be held at the Watertown Middle School Cafeteria, 68 Waverley Ave., Watertown, MA 02472 on Monday, Jan. 27, 20202, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Watertown encourages active transportation — walking, biking and transit — to help reduce congestion, and improve both air quality and public health. The Watertown Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan aims to help achieve those goals by identifying future improvements to the Town’s streets and walkways. Join us for a discussion on the future of Watertown’s bicycle and pedestrian transportation networks and tell us what you would like to see.

Watertown Residents Invited to Bicycle Event Along the Charles River

Watertown residents are invited to come out to the Watertown Moves: Get Out Your Bike event on Saturday, May 11, 2019, 1-3 p.m. at the Watertown Square Dock, Charles River Road at Galen Street Bridge. The rain date is May 19. Live Well Watertown provided the following information:

Meet representatives from Watertown’s Bike & Pedestrian Committee, Live Well Watertown, Watertown’s Transportation Management Association (TMA), and Lime, whose bike share program now has all electric-assist. WHERE: Watertown Square Dock, Charles River Road at Galen Street Bridge

Dig your bike out of the basement, garage, or shed and bring it down for a free check-up. Talk with representatives from Watertown’s Bike & Pedestrian Committee, Watertown’s new Transportation Management Association (TMA), Live Well Watertown, and the new Bike Share Program, to learn about current and upcoming programs and initiatives. Pick up information on bike safety & commuting and a cycling map for exploring Watertown and beyond, along the Charles River.

Watertown Moves Bike Event Happening This Sunday Along the Charles

Live Well Watertown, the Watertown Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee and Bay State Bike Week will host a special bicycle event along the shores of the Charles River. The event was rescheduled from last Sunday due to rain. The Watertown Moves Bike Event will be on Sunday, May 21, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. at the Watertown Square Dock (at the Galen St. Bridge on the Charles River). The groups sent out the following announcement:
