In-Person Early Voting in Watertown Starts This Week

Watertown voters can take part in early voting for the 2024 Presidential Primary during six days in late February and early March. Along with candidates for President, voters can vote for the party’s State Committee Man, State Committee Woman, and Town Committee. Polling places for the Presidential Primaries will be open on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The City of Watertown sent out the following information:

In-Person Early Voting for the Presidential Primaries Election will be held at City Hall located at 149 Main Street, Watertown in the Philip Pane Lower Hearing Room on the ground floor on the following dates and hours:

Saturday, February 24, 2024: 9:00am – 1:00pm

Sunday, February 25, 2024: 9:00am – 1:00pm

Monday, February 26, 2024: 8:30am – 5:00pm

Tuesday, February 27, 2024: 8:30am – 7:00pm

Wednesday, February 28, 2024: 8:30am – 5:00pm

Thursday, February 29, 2024: 8:30am – 5:00pm

Friday, March 1, 2024: 8:30am – 5:00pm

The City Clerk’s Office said: “Massachusetts voters now have the option to vote early by mail in all Municipal, State and Federal Elections, with no excuse required.

Early Voting in 2023 Election Approved by City Council; Fewer Days Than Prior Years

Watertown voters will have the opportunity to cast ballots in person before election day in the 2023 Watertown City Election, but there will be fewer early voting days than previous elections. Under the state’s VOTES Act cities and towns have the opportunity to offer early voting, but must opt in. For Watertown that means a vote of the City Council, said City Clerk Janet Murphy. Voters will also be able to vote by mail, and at voting locations on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023.

Early In-Person Voting Begins This Weekend in Watertown

The City of Watertown announced the start of early voting on Saturday, Oct. 22 at City Hall. It continues until Friday, Nov. 4. The City of Watertown sent out the following information:

Big Voter Turnout Already in Watertown From Mail-In Ballots, Early Voting

The ballot drop off box outside Watertown’s Town Hall. Many Watertown voters have already cast their ballot in the 2020 Presidential Election, with the number of votes already received by the Town Clerk’s office nearly as high as the total cast in the September Preliminary Election. As of Tuesday afternoon, more than 40 percent of Watertown’s registered voters had turned in their ballots, according to Town Manager Michael Driscoll, who got the latest numbers from Town Clerk John Flynn. The Town sent out 13,255 vote-by-mail and absentee ballots, many of which have already been returned, Driscoll said, plus early voting started on Oct. 17 and continues through Oct.

Early Voting for Presidential Election Begins Saturday Oct. 17

Watertown residents can head to Town Hall beginning Saturday to cast their ballot in the Presidential Election. This election, there will be 14 days of early, in-person voting at Town Hall, 149 Main St., Watertown. COVID-19 social distancing measures will be taken in the voting areas, including plexiglass between poll workers and voters, pens only being used once and voting booths being spaced at least 6 feet apart. Early voting dates and times are listed below. Ballots have already begun to stream into the Watertown Town Clerk’s Office.

Voting in 2020 will look quite a bit different due to the COVID-19 outbreak, with safety measures for in-person voters and many ballots coming in by mail or hand delivered to Town Hall. The 2020 Election is nearly here, with voters in Watertown and Massachusetts going to the polls twice in two months. Many voters are taking advantage of the mail-in ballots, and early voting starts soon. The Town Clerk’s office has already received hundreds of mail in ballots, which are available due to the COVID-19 outbreak, said Watertown Town Clerk John Flynn. State officials send the requests for mail-in ballots to the Town Clerk’s office, and staff sends out the ballots. “We have mailed out over 7,000 ballots,” Flynn said. “This is the first challenge to an incumbent U.S. Senator for years.
