The Halalisa Singers Present ‘Voices of Hope’ in Watertown

The Halalisa Singers will be performing at Watertown’s First Parish Church. The following information was provided by Halalisa Singers:

Artistic Director Mary Cunningham leads the 39-voice Halalisa Singers  in Voices of Hope and Heart, a timely concert offering messages of hope in adversity and the power of love to bring joy and healing. Accompanying the singers will be Trevor Berens and percussionist Bertram Lehmann. The ensemble will repeat the diverse program showcasing American values of inclusiveness and justice on a May 2019 tour of Ireland with performances in Dublin, Kinsale, Killarney, and Galway. Saturday, April 27, 8 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Reading, 239 Woburn St., Reading.

Auditions for the Christmas Revels chorus will take place in Watertown this April. The holidays are several months away, but auditions for The Christmas Revels will take place soon in Watertown. Revels provided the following information:

Trio Performing in Watertown for Tremedal Concerts

Kallet, Epstein and Cicone will perform on March 9 in Watertown. The trio of Cindy Kallet, Ellen Epstein and Michael Cicone will perform in Watertown in the latest Tremedal Concert. The concert will be at the First Parish Church, 35 Church St. in Watertown on Saturday, March 9, at 8 p.m. Tickets have sold out. Organizers of the concert describe the group as:

The Kelly Girls Will Perform Celtic Music at Library’s Winter Concert Series

The Kelly Girls will perform as part of the Watertown Library’s Winter Concert Series. The Watertown Library provided the following announcement:

The Watertown Free Public Library’s final Winter Concert features the Celtic sounds of The Kelly Girls. The group will perform at the Library on Sunday, March 3, at 2 p.m. in the Watertown Savings Bank Room. The performance is free and open to the public. The Celtic band the Kelly Girls have quickly gained recognition as one of the most entertaining Celtic Bands in New England.

Watertown Based Revels Names New Executive Director

Kate Stookey was named the new executive director of Revels, the Watertown based group known for producing the Christmas Revels. The following announcement came from Revels:

Revels, Inc., the beloved steward of world songs, stories, and traditions, is pleased to announce the appointment of Kate Stookey as its Executive Director, effective January 31, 2019. Stookey’s appointment comes as Revels readies itself for the next chapter of its nearly 50-year history. Founded in 1971 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Revels is best known for its annual production of The Christmas Revels, a seasonal celebration now shared across the US through eight affiliate companies. “It is such a joy to be able to place Revels in the hands of such a capable and energetic executive as Kate,” said Stine O’Brien, President of the Revels Board of Directors.
