Watertown Rec Survivor Series Headed to Casey Park for Some Futsal

Casey Park’s outdoor rink will be used for futsal this week in the Recreation Department’s Survivor Series. The Watertown Recreation Departments is running a series of activities for a range of ages. This week the action moves to Casey Park on Watertown Street. The Watertown Recreation Department sent out the following information:

Look for the next Survivor Series upcoming this week. We are moving locations to our Casey Outdoor Rink for some Futsal.

Registration Open for the Recreation Department’s Winter Programs

Registration is open for the Recreation Department’s Winter Session 1, which runs from Dec. 7, 2020 to Feb. 7, 2021. The programs include a range of indoor and outdoor activities for ages PreK to adult.

There are all-sports programs, crafts, and the Cops ‘n’ Rec floor hockey, girls volleyball and basketball. High school offerings include basketball, girls volleyball and futsal.

Part of Filippello Park Closed for 2 Weeks, More Construction Coming

Filippello Park. The Watertown Recreation Department announced further closing of part of Filippello Park due to ongoing construction work, and another project will begin in the fall. The following information was sent out by Recreation Director Peter Centola:

The Filippello (Arlington) section of Filippello Park closure has been extended and will not be open to the public and all users until Friday, August 28 at 6:00pm due to the installation of new field lighting system. This includes the field, walking track, tot lot / playground and table and grill areas within the Filippello (Arlington) section of the park. The contractor is performing conduit trenching through next Friday August 14th.

Closure of Part of Watertown Park Extended by a Week

Filippello Park. Watertown Recreation Director Peter Centola announced that part of Filippello Park will be closed for another week for construction. Centola sent out the following announcement:

The Filippello (Arlington) section of Filippello Park closure has been extended and will not be open to the public and all users until Friday, August 7 at 6:00pm due to the installation of pole foundations for the new lighting system. This includes the field, walking track, tot lot / playground and table and grill areas within the Filippello (Arlington) section of the park. This does not include the Filippello (Grove) entryway, dog park, courts, parking lot, Filippello (Grove) field, tot lot, table and grill area, bathroom and spray park.

Portion of Filippello Park Closing for Construction

Filippello Park. The following announcement was provided by the Watertown Recreation Department:

The Filippello (Arlington) section of Filippello Park will be closed to the public and all users beginning Monday, July 27 at 6:00am and ending Friday, July 31 at 6:00pm due to the installation of pole foundations for the new lighting system. This includes the field, walking track, tot lot / playground and table and grill areas within the Filippello (Arlington) section of the park. This does not include the Filippello (Grove) entryway, dog park, courts, parking lot, Filippello (Grove) field, tot lot, table and grill area, bathroom and spray park. The Park Adventure Program offered by the Recreation Department will be moved to Arsenal Park and the Raiders FC clinic will move to the Victory (Oval) for the week.

Watertown Recreation Offering Summer Programs for Kids and Adults

The Watertown Recreation Department will be offering summer program offerings beginning on July 13th. Registration will begin on Tuesday July 7th at 9:00 a.m. and will be on a first come, first serve basis. Please review the following brochure for specific opportunities. Kids Programs

Park Adventure Program

Join the Watertown Recreation Department for a half day summerprogram for all Watertown children. Activities will range from arts & crafts,sports, drama, and many other activities geared toward their interests and age. Monday – Friday, July 13th – August 28th

Youth Tennis

Youth tennis classes will be offered during the summer months.Participants will be taught many tennis skills including forehand,backhand, serving, and scoring.

Watertown’s basketball courts, like this one at Casey Park, have reopened with COVID-19 social distancing restrictions. The Watertown Recreation Department reopened basketball courts, playgrounds and picnic tables in public parks on June 24, but social distancing rules and other requirements apply to users. Playgrounds and basketball courts are limited to Watertown residents only. Playgrounds

Face coverings must be worn at playgrounds and tot lots, unless a person has an underlying health condition preventing them from doing so. Users must remain at least 6 feet apart.
