Watertown Wrestler Wins All-State Championship

Watertown junior Tessa Master made history Saturday, winning an All-State title and moving on to the New England Championships. A week after winning the MIAA Div. 3 title in the 152 pound division, Master shut out her first two opponents in the All-State Meet and pinned Nadia Lebron of Salem in the final to take the title. Through the season, Master wrestled mostly against boys as part of the Raiders’ wrestling squad.

Last weekend, not just one, but two Watertown High School wrestlers — senior Tommy Dicker and junior Brady Gleason — won their division at the MIAA Div. 3 Sectional meet.

WORCESTER — Sometimes a moment leaves you grasping for words, unable to form full sentences. Several feelings flowing all at once — triumph, exhilaration, pride, a sense of relief, and pure joy. All you can do is just scream and give the nearest person a big hug.

Watertown High School’s field hockey team has been streaking towards the program’s 21st State Championship in 2023. A win in Saturday’s MIAA Div. 3 State Final would give the Raiders their 75th straight win, third straight title, and if they shut out Newburyport the team would extend its national record shutout streak to 42. The final is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Watertown Field Hockey State Final Bound After Close Win Over Sandwich

HINGHAM — In a battle of heavyweight field hockey programs, Watertown emerged victorious, 1-0, after a 60 minute struggle in the MIAA Div. 3 State Tournament Semifinal that went down to the final moments Wednesday night. For the third straight year, the Raiders battled Sandwich deep into the tournament. In 2021 and 2022 the clash came in the State Final, and this year it came one round before.

Watertown Girls Lacrosse Team’s Long Journey Ends in Nantucket

NANTUCKET — Few road games require multiple modes of transportation, but Watertown High School’s girls lacrosse team hade to take two buses and a ferry to make it to the MIAA Div. 4 Tournament game against Nantucket. The 20th seed Watertown (9-13) lost 14-5 to fourth seed Nantucket (19-3) on June 8. Sophomore Alani Garey scored three goals for the Raiders, while junior Sarah Morrissey and senior captain Alex Karalis each contributed one.

Raiders Baseball Team Looks Back on Successful Season After Exiting Tournament

Photo by Brianna WilliamsThe Raiders season ended in the MIAA Div. 3 Round of 32, but the Raiders had one of their best seasons in years. FOXBOROUGH — Watertown senior captain Casey Williams pitched a complete game with five strikeouts, but the Raiders fell by a run to Foxborough in the MIAA Div. 3 Tournament on Tuesday. For the Round of 32, 38th seed Watertown High School traveled to face the sixth seeded Warriors. Along with strong pitching, Watertown had strong field work from senior captains Johnny Cacace, Robbie Iannetta and Daniel Tattrie. 

However, Foxborough took the lead early in the first inning by scoring a run.

Watertown Girls Lacrosse Sailing to Nantucket for Tourney Game, Find Out How to Watch

When the Watertown High School girls lacrosse team defeated Medway 8-5 on Saturday, the Raiders booked a trip to Nantucket for a Round of 16 contest in the MIAA Div. 4 Tournament. Watertown, the 20th seed, plays the fourth seeded hosts at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 8. The Raiders defeated the 13th seed, Medway, after getting four goals from junior Molly Driscoll, three from senior Alex Karalis, and one from senior Maggie Driscoll in the Round of 32.
