Watertown’s Ariel Nathanson will run a free online workshop about personal finances on Aug. 23. Nathanson provided the following announcement:

The following announcement was provided by Watertown Cable Access TV:
WCA-TV channels will be off air from August 22 through August 25, 2023. What this means is that their channels will be down on cable as well as online through their Video on Demand (VOD) service. This is a planned outage due to WCA-TV’s relocation to the Phillips Administration Building at 30 Common St. While we will not be running programming 24/7 on cable or on demand during this time, any and all scheduled live programming will be streamed on our website at wcatv.org/government. Please keep an eye out on WCA-TV’s social media pages, newsletter, and website for up to date information regarding off air time.
The following information was provided by the Watertown Boys & Girls Club:
The Watertown Boys & Girls Club will soon unveil its plans to open the City’s first and largest licensed childcare center for school aged children. Opening in 2024, the childcare center will encompass an entirely renovated ground floor with more than 3,500 square feet of dedicated space to accommodate up to 80 children in grades K-3. Donations will be accepted through The “New Foundations” Campaign to raise funds for this project. In addition to providing licensed childcare for school-aged children, the new center will also offer access to the Club’s pool and athletic facilities as part of its programming. The expansion will create additional capacity to meet increasing demand on the main floor of the club for programs to support older children and teens.

The Residence Inn by Marriott will host a blood drive on Thursday, Aug. 31. The event will be held on the seventh anniversary of the opening of the hotel. The Watertown Community Blood Drive will be hosted by the hotel in the East End Watertown Room, 570 Arsenal St., Watertown. The American Red Cross will be at the hotel on Aug.
Vincent Piccirilli, candidate for District C Town Councilor
As part of the changes to the Watertown Charter all City Councilors must have an annual meeting to meet with the public. District C City Councilor At-Large Vincent Piccirilli announced the date of his meeting. Councilor Vinnie Piccirilli’s Annual Councilor Meeting is Tuesday August 29, 2023 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM in the City Council Chamber in City Hall. This is an in-person meeting only, not hybrid.

Marylouise McDermott
A Funeral Mass for Marylouise Pallotta McDermott, 87, will be held on Wednesday August 16, 2023, in the Church of Saint Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown. Mrs. McDermott, a daughter of the late Giovanni & Antonetta (Lanni) Pallotta, was born in Avellino, Italy. She attended Rosary Academy and graduated from Boston University for her bachelor’s degree. She furthered her education receiving an MBA and master’s degree in education from Boston University. Marylouise taught in the field of business administration.
