Upstage Lung Cancer Presents Cabaret Fundraiser at Mosesian Center

Kicking off its 10th anniversary celebration of utilizing the performing arts to raise awareness for the fight against lung cancer, Upstage Lung Cancer (ULC) presents a one-night-only cabaret concert benefitBarbra, Bette & Bernadette, on Tuesday, October 23, 7:30 pm at the Mosesian Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal Street, Watertown. The event is open to the public, a pre-concert silent auction begins at 6 pm.  Presented in partnership with the LUNGevity Foundation, all proceeds from the performance support the critically important cause of early lung cancer detection research. A high-spirited evening of music making and storytelling, Barbra, Better & Bernadette honors the voices of Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler and Bernadette Peters, three iconic female performing artists.  The concert salutes the towering, talented trio of beloved and powerful singers who have transformed today’s popular music, leaving an indelible mark on the world of entertainment. Notably, all three women performed the role of Dolly Levi in the Broadway musical Hello Dolly, a powerful, charismatic and determined woman with heart.

Museum of Science Hosting Children’s Event at Watertown Mall

The Watertown Mall, located at 550 Arsenal Street, Watertown, will host the Super Cold Science exhibit brought to you by the Museum of Science. Come and learn about the changes in substances as they go through a dramatic change in temperature. This program investigates the science of cold with several fun demonstrations. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and get involved and learn how to use science to answer questions such as “What is this substance?!”
This event will take place August 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.

Local Church Hosts 17th Annual Magic and Songs on the Lawn

Belmont-Watertown Methodist Church invites you to the 17th annual Magic and Song on the Lawn! The church is located at 421 Common St, Belmont. Aug 17, 7:00-8:15 p.m.

The show will feature Belmont’s own Mike Bent and his Abrakidabra Magic Show and acclaimed children’s recording artist Wayne Potash. Everyone is welcome; the show is appropriate for children of all ages! Free admission, free refreshments.

New Entertainment, Food and Drink Offerings Coming to 2018 Faire on the Square

Visitors of this year’s Faire on the Square will see some changes, including new rides, entertainers, food truck and — organizers hope — beer and wine. The 2018 Faire is the 20th annual Town celebration. It will be held on Sept. 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will once again take place around Town Hall. In an effort to liven the event, organizers have brought in some new elements.

Family Movie Night This Friday Hosted by the Watertown Police, Recreation Departments

Watertown Cable Celebrating 85 Years Since Debut of Popeye the Sailor

The following information was provided by Fred Grandinetti, host of Watertown Cable’s Drawing With Fred:

The Watertown Channel will be honoring the animated film debut of Popeye the Sailor with a special.Eighty-five years ago, on July 14, 1933, the sailor man jumped on stage to dance the hula with Betty Boop. Over 500 animated cartoons followed for both motion picture and television screens. Today the sailor has millions of followers on face book located at https://www.facebook.com/Popeye/

The special will feature cartoons which originally appeared on the big screen. These titles include, “I’m In the Army Now” (1935), “I Never Changes My Altitude” (1937) and “With Poopdeck Pappy” (1940). Here is the program’s schedule during the remainder of July and through August:

Tuesday- 3:00 p.m.
Thursday-6:30 p.m.
