Aug. 28, 5:53 a.m.: Police received a call about a man slumped over on a rock wall along Pleasant Street near Cross Street. Police approached the man, who woke up. The Fire Department was called, but the man refused medical treatment.
Police arrested a woman who allegedly went on a shoplifting spree of four stores in two malls in Watertown. Target security called the police on Aug. 26 at 1:27 p.m. after they stopped a woman who had allegedly tried to take some clothing by concealing them. The total value of the clothing from Target was $176.98, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady.
On Aug. 28 at 6:28 p.m., a Watertown Police officer spotted a suspicious car parked in front of a home on Nichols Avenue near Melendy Avenue. The officer approached the car and identified himself a police officer. “The man took off in his car at a high rate of speed,” Grady said. “He lead police on a short chase.”
The driver headed down Nichols Avenue, turned onto Dexter Avenue, headed up to Mt.
Watertown Police arrested a man who allegedly broke into three homes over the past couple weeks. The man, identified as Michael Mancuso, is suspected of breaking into a home on Standish Road and stole a guitar, and was spotted by a York Avenue resident in his living room (click here to see more details). On Aug. 28 at 1:51 a.m. the man was spotted walking up to the back door of a home on Bellevue Road, said Watertown Sgt. Thomas Grady.

Incidents
Aug. 19, 4:19 p.m.: A cell phone was stolen from a vehicle parked in the Home Depot parking lot. There were no signs of forced entry. Aug.
A woman driving her child in East Watertown got a nasty surprise when a utility pole with a transformer on top fell onto her minivan. The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Arlington and Calvin streets, according to a report from WHDH Channel 7. The woman and child were not injured. The cause of the pole falling remains under investigation.
A pair of home break ins – including one where a homeowner woke to find a man in his living room – may be linked, according to Watertown Police. Both of the incidents took place in the neighborhood near the Lowell School. On Aug. 18 at 9:29 a.m. a Standish Road resident reported an attempted breaking and entering to his home, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. “The resident found a rear sliding door and screen door opened and pry marks on a basement door,” Lawn said.
