The Watertown Police received 32 reports of unemployment frauds from Nov. 9-15.
Nov. 9, 8:57 a.m.: A Duff Street resident reported a missing package. The resident believes the order from Amazon was delivered on Oct.
Watertown Police warn residents to beware after two incidents reported by residents who bought magazines from door-to-door sales people who turned out to be scammers. The two incidents involved three scammers who knocked on doors saying they were selling magazines to raise money. One said it was for the Watertown Boys & Girls Club and the other was for domestic violence shelters but there are no such efforts, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. He added that incidents were part of a larger scam that has impacted several Metro Boston communities. At 5:54 p.m. on Nov.
A former Watertown Police officer has sued the Watertown Police Department and the Police union for “gender discrimination and retaliation” after she was forced to leave the department. The suit also alleged that it was due in part to an intimate relationship she was having with a superior officer. A copy of the civil suit filed in Middlesex Superior Court was obtained by the Boston Herald, which ran a story and a column on Tuesday evening. See the story here. The suit said that former WPD detective Kathleen Donohue faced “sexually charged comments,” and “dangerous rumors” about false affairs, the Herald reports.

Watertown Police received 32 reports of unemployment fraud from Nov. 2 to 8. Nov. 2, 4:05 p.m.: A School Street resident reported that two vehicles parked on the street had been vandalized.

Oct. 31, 11:58 a.m.: Police received a report of a man who had just shoplifted at CVS in Watertown Square. The man was seen placing cans of Axe Body Spray into a backpack and leave the store without paying. The suspect was described as a bald African-American man, wearing gray sweatpants, a gray sweatshirt with a gray backpack.

Police received 23 reports of fraudulent unemployment claims made against Watertown residents during the week of Oct. 21-27. Oct. 19, 10:32 a.m.: A Watertown resident was expecting a package containing a MacBook laptop, but she never received it.

Oct. 12, 11;11 p.m.: State Police sent out a be-on-the-lookout alert to Watertown and Newton police for an erratic driver that had gotten off the Mass Pike at Exit 17. Watertown Police located the vehicle in the parking lot at Repton Place on Pleasant Street. They found the driver half asleep in the car, with the motor running.
Three new Watertown Fire lieutenants — Scott Twombly, Glen McManus and Ralph Mele — were sworn in by Town Clerk John Flynn during a ceremony outside the Commander’s Mansion on Wednesday, Oct. 21. The Watertown Fire Department honored eight of its members on Wednesday during a swearing-in ceremony. Seven received promotions and one firefighter was officially welcomed to the WFD. The Fire Department periodically holds swearing in ceremonies to recognize promotions and new members of the department.
