Watertown got a shoutout in Noah Kahan’s latest album “The Great Divide.” The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter said he enjoyed the time he spent living in town.

The City’s Parker Building at 124 Watertown Street will be temporarily closed from May 2-12, 2026, to undergo electrical service upgrades in the building.
A study of the Watertown Public Schools’ special education found a number of areas of concerns, including a lack of uniformity, a need for better communication with families, and a distrust among parents of students in the program.

A new ordinance approved by the City Council prohibits restaurants from automatically including plastic utensils with takeout orders, however customers can request these items when they order or pick up their food.

The Watertown Citizen Police Academy begins soon and there are still spots available for interested residents.

Finnegan Club clinched the 2019 O’Brien-Jeharian Legend League championship.
Finnegan Club won Game 2 over Johnson Club to force a third and deciding game in the best-of-three Legend League Finals, and completed the season by winning the championship on Thursday night.
James DeMarco grew up in Watertown and became a goaltender at age 5. It’s his life’s passion to stand between the pipes and keep the puck out of the net. Combining this with the love of cartooning, Small Saves emerged in 1991 and took on a life of his own. “To play goal–then come home and draw Small Saves — is my ideal definition of a good day.”
Watertown Middle School
Watertown Middle School has a tradition of not cutting players from its after school sports teams, but some sports have attracted many more players than can play in games. The School Committee approved a change to the program to allow more students to participate.

The Right Reverend Barbara C. Harris will speak about her recent memoir, Hallelujah, Anyhow!, on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 3 p.m. in the Watertown Savings Bank Meeting Room of the Watertown Free Public Library.
The Watertown Department of Public Works will be cleaning catch basins around town in September.
The following announcement was provided by the Department of Public Works:
Catch basins carry stormwater off the streets and into the Town’s drainage system, which ultimately flows to the Charles River. The purpose of this work is to remove sediment and oils that accumulate in the catch basins to reduce the risk of flooding and so that these pollutants don’t go into the river.
