Watertown Musician Uses Pandemic to Record First Solo Album

Watertown’s Daniel Radin recorded his debut solo album, “Good Things” in his home basement. He used the name Lake Saint Daniel for his latest project. Watertown’s Daniel Radin usually spends a lot of time on the road touring with his rock band, but his performance schedule was cut short by the Pandemic. He made the most of his time at home by recording his first solo album. Recently, Radin received a grant from Passim’s Iguana Music Awards to help pay to put out his new album, Good Things, which he put out under the name used for his most recent project — Lake Saint Daniel.

Passim has awarded over $40,000 to 24 musicians through its 2020 Iguana Music Fund, including to a Watertown musician. Watertown’s Lake Saint Daniel will use the grant to release a fully self-produced and recorded debut album. The Iguana Music Fund awards gifts annually to musicians for career building projects and for projects that provide community service through music. Arsenal Yards Starting Outdoor Fitness & Concert Series

In partnership with local Boston and Watertown fitness studios, Arsenal Yards is hosting a socially-distanced outdoor fitness series this month. Fitness classes are complimentary to guests and residents of Arsenal Yards, offering the chance to take a class with a favorite local fitness studio, or try something new! Outdoor fitness classes will run through Thursday, October 1,, 2020. Located on the River Green, across from Shake Shack, classes are complimentary and registration is required, with sign-ups opening the week before the class. Limited capacity available, and classes are weather-dependent.

Watertown Library Hosting Four Free Winter Concerts

The Watertown Free Public Library’s Winter Concert Series kicks off on Sunday, Dec. 8. This year, the library has booked an eclectic lineup featuring a string trio, a banjo virtuoso, a singer/songwriter, and a local swing and blues band. Concerts are free and open to all.

Folk Musician Eric Kilburn Holding CD Release Party in Watertown

Folk musician Eric Kilburn will be performing in Watertown at the Tremedal Concerts. On Saturday, Nov. 2, Eric Kilburn will have a CD release performance as part of the Tremedal Concerts. Kilburn is known for his Wellspring Sound facility, one of the finest and best equipped in New England, and he also is an accomplished mandolin player. He has played withSwing Cafe, Meeting Across the Water, Deborah Silverstein and the Band of Erics, along with hits guest soloist appearances.

Classical Concert at Plumbing Museum Features Flute Duo

The Plumbing Museum is pleased to continue its classical music concert series “Music of the Pipes” that was formed last year by an acclaimed Polish flutist Antonina Styczen. Conceived as a community outreach project, the concert series brings together a variety of musical genres to provide family-friendly, educational, traditional and experimental music programming. For its second concert, Styczen is joining the forces with Katy Wherry, one of the best American flutist of the young generation and the founder of the biggest flute online community – Etude of the Week. This vibrant flute duo has been bringing joy and diversity of music onto stages with its #flutever project that began in Spring 2019 when two young women decided to create an ensemble where they can express their creativity together and share it with audiences all over the world.
