Watertown’s recycling pickup map. The Watertown Department of Public Works has released the Trash and Recycling calendar for 2019. Trash will be collected once a week. Recycling will be collected every other week. The pick up week depends on which area of town in which you live.
Whether Watertown will build new elementary schools or renovate the current ones will be discussed at the School Building Committee meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 2. At their last meeting on Dec. 5, the School Building Committee began discussing whether the difference in price for renovating vs. building new schools was small enough to consider new construction.

The T will operate on a Weekday Schedule. All Subway lines will operate on rush-hour schedules between 3 p.m and 2 a.m.
Fares will not be collected after 8 p.m.
Bicycles are prohibited on all inbound Commuter Rail trains between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., and outbound trains after 4 p.m.

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrest
Dec. 20, 8:10 p.m.: An officer driving on the one-way section of Riverside Street spotted a vehicle coming at him at a high rate of speed. The police cruiser swerved to avoid being hit by the vehicle. He turned around and stopped the vehicle.

A rendering of what a 197-foot-tall residential tower could look like at Arsenal Yards. Developers would have needed a zoning change to allow it to be more than 130 feet tall. The requested zoning amendment, however, has been withdrawn. Boylston Properties, the developer of Arsenal Yards, has withdrawn its request to build a tower taller than is currently allowed by Watertown’s zoning rules. Developers had submitted a request to the Town to increase allowable height in the Regional Mixed Use District (RMUD) — where the mall is located — from 130 feet to 197 feet.
