James DeMarco grew up in Watertown and became a goaltender at age 5. It’s his life’s passion to stand between the pipes and keep the puck out of the net. Combining this with the love of cartooning, Small Saves emerged in 1991 and took on a life of his own. “To play goal–then come home and draw Small Saves — is my ideal definition of a good day.”
The Watertown Mall will host a mask making craft on Oct. 17 and the annual Scarecrow Contest begins on Oct. 18. The mall provided the following information:

The Watertown Mall, located at 550 Arsenal Street, together with Watertown Families Together invite you to come on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 10 a.m.–11 a.m. for “Magical Masks,” an event to celebrate Halloween by making themed masks. There will be songs, stories and crafts as well!
The Commander’s Mansion in Watertown. Watertown’s Commander’s Mansion will host a Halloween celebration with games, food and other spooky fun. The ‘Lil Monster Mash will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Commander’s Mansion, 440 Talcott Ave., Watertown. The free event is for Watertown families of children from PreK to fifth grade.
The mural facing the Saltonstall Park basketball courts is one example of public art in Watertown. The Public Arts Master Plan Advisory Committee seeks other ideas at a public meeting. The Watertown Public Arts Master Plan Advisory Committee seeks input from the public about what kinds of public art they would like to see in town. A meeting will be held later this month to provide people with more information about the Public Arts Master Plan, and to gather input. Organizers sent out the following announcement:

Watertown’s Janis Hudson will be part of Moonbox Productions’ The Rocky Horror Show in Harvard Square. The following announcement was provided by Moonbox Productions:
Watertown actor, Janis Hudson, stars in Moonbox Productions upcoming productions of the The Rocky Horror Show opening on Oct. 17 and running through Nov. 2. Moonbox will perform the production in a pop-up theatre located in the heart of Harvard Square at 25 Brattle Street, the former home of Hidden Sweets.
Touch a fire truck at the Watertown Fire Department’s Open House. The Watertown Fire Department invites public to attend its Open House on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Fire Headquarters. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fire Station 1, at 99 Main St. in Watertown Square.
The season will end for the Watertown Farmers Market on Wednesday, but there are plenty of vendors to visit and special guests, including the Fire Department, the Watertown Library and a musician. The Watertown Farmers Market sent out the following announcement:
