Jasper Hill Farm also joins the market this year, bringing their award-winning cow’s milk cheese to market every-other week.

Spring Has Sprung in an Unusual Place in Watertown

Each spring brings a burst of life, with trees and flowers blooming and wildlife welcoming their young. One pair of birds decided to make their nest not in a tree but on top of some emergency lights at the Wayside Multi-Service Center on North Beacon Street in Watertown. The birds built the next a few weeks ago on the emergency lights over the handicap accessible ramp at the center. Recently they hatched, and now the young birds can be seen peaking their beaks out and are close to being able to take their first flights. “We nurture everyone at the Multi,” said Wayside Program Director Laura Kurman.

Family of Geese Make Home Outside Friendly’s in Watertown

Friendly’s restaurant on Arsenal Street has a new attraction, and it’s not an item on the menu – it’s a new family of geese. A pair of Canada Geese has made their home on the small grassy patch in front of Friendly’s for about four years, said manager Pam McPhail, but this year something new happened. “The mama began picking feathers from her down and made and made a nest,” McPhail said. “Then one day she left an egg and left another every day for the next seven days.” That was about six weeks ago, and this week the fuzzy yellow goslings began to emerge.

Color guards from the Watertown Police and Fire departments will be involved along with veterans groups, he told the Town Council. Woman Catches Cancer Early Thanks to Relay for Life

Margaret Klingmeyer began participating in the Relay For Life in honor of her sister, but the annual event that raises money for the American Cancer Society helped her in her own fight with the disease. Klingmeyer, 70, a semi-retired CPA who lives in Wellesley, is no stranger to fighting back against cancer. She began fundraising for the American Cancer Society in 2008, the year her sister lost her life after a battle with lung cancer, according to the American Cancer Society. That year, she joined Relay For Life of New Bedford, where she was born and where she sister lived. The following year, she started Team Hiker Chris with the Relay For Life of Watertown-Newton-Waltham event, in Watertown, the town where she cares for her grandchildren and often visits her daughter.
