Police Log: Man Wanted on Rape Charges Caught, Scammer Steals $24K from Resident

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrests

April 24, 11:07 p.m.: An officer patrolling the parking lot at Victory Field noticed a vehicle parked there with the motor running, but with the lights off. The officer conducted a routine query of the license plate and found out that the owner was wanted on warrants. The officer confirmed the driver was the owner and placed the suspect, Gregorio C. DaSilva, 29, of Lowell, under arrest. He was wanted on a warrant out of Haverhill District Court for three charges of rape.

Police Log: Car Stolen, Men Get in Fight Over COVID-19 Concerns

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrest

April 16, 12:46 a.m.: A caller reported seeing a vehicle being driven erratically on the 200 block of Arsenal Street at about 12:27 a.m. Police responded and located a vehicle matching the caller’s description a few minutes later on the 500 block of Main Street, but when they attempted to pull him over, the driver sped away. He was located a short time later pulled over on Grove Street in Waltham. The driver admitted to consuming alcohol before driving, and he showed signs of intoxication, including emitting a strong odor of alcohol. Police discovered he had a license suspended for an OUI and already had two prior OUI charges.

Watertown turned out in a big way to celebrate the 100th birthday of one of its veterans on Friday afternoon. A call went out from the family of Joseph Markarian online, and the town responded. The U.S. Army veteran was treated to his own parade complete with police and fire vehicles with their sires blaring and a band (well at least one musician — Watertown’s famous traveling tuba player). Man Who Stole Car from Watertown Caught in Boston

A Newton man wanted for stealing a car, after breaking into a Watertown home, was caught the next day by Boston Police. Watertown police arrested 36-year-old Jonathan L. Bradley Jr., of Newton, on multiple charges, including breaking into a home and stealing a 2012 Subaru Impreza. On April 13, an Elton Avenue resident heard sounds on the upper floor of a two-family home between 5:30 and 6:30 a.m. and later realized it was someone breaking into the home, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. “Thinking it was someone up early, the resident didn’t think anything of it,” O’Connor said. “When person got up they saw that a pocket book had been gone through, and their vehicle was missing from in front of the house.”

Police Log: Pair Get into Fight on Street, Packages Stolen from Homes

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrests 

April 8, 10:45 p.m.: Watertown Police were contacted by Middlesex County probation about a man in town wanted on a warrant. Officers located him at a home in Watertown and placed the 34-year-old Natick man under arrest on the warrant. April 11, 12:50 a.m.: Police received a report of a disturbance in the municipal parking lot behind CVS. When officers arrived they spoke to the people involved and found one of them had an outstanding warrant.

2 Firefighters Test Positive for COVID-19; 2 More Virus Related Deaths in Watertown

Several Watertown Firefighters quarantined themselves after two members of the Fire Department tested positive for the Coronavirus. One of those who tested positive has already recovered, and the second is still recovering, said Watertown Fire Chief Bob Quinn. “When the first Firefighter tested positive we had to quarantine four other Firefighters for 14 days,” Quinn said. “None of them developed any symptoms and are all back to work. We had another firefighter test positive and had to send three others for testing due to the possible exposure, but luckily they all came back negative.” Where the firefighters became infected is not known, Quinn said, but it is possible it was while they were on duty.

Watertown Police, Firefighters Give Girl a Special Birthday Celebration

Watertown resident Kristie celebrated her 10th birthday with a special drive by from the Watertown Police and Fire departments. A young girl had some special guests to help celebrate her birthday during the time of COVID-19, a group of Watertown’s first responders. The Watertown Police and Fire Departments put on a small parade on Tuesday to help Kristie celebrate her 10th birthday. One car even had a banner on it saying “Happy Birthday Kristie.” The police and fire vehicles sounded their sirens as the rolled down Whites Avenue, and residents came to their balconies to see the procession.
