June 14, 12:26 a.m.: Multiple calls were received about a trash barrel on fire at Lowell Elementary School. Officers arrived and found a can on fire on the basketball court at the school. The Watertown Fire Department arrived and put out the flames. No suspect could be found after police searched the area.

June 10, 2:28 a.m.: An officer patrolling in Watertown Square spotted a Toyota Highlander with a revoked registration. The vehicle was pulled over on Mt. Auburn Street near Walnut Street. While speaking with the driver and the passenger, police learned that the passenger had warrants for her arrest.

June 5, 4:47 a.m.: An officer patrolling on Main Street heading eastbound saw a vehicle driving fast coming in the opposite direction. The Audi A7 was going approximately 50 mph and went through a red light at Main Street and Waverley Avenue. The officer turned around, turned on the cruiser’s lights and siren, and attempted to stop the vehicle. The car then ran a red light at Main and Lexington streets.

May 26 , 11:33 a.m.: Police received a call from a UPS employee about a suspicious situation with a package. The package was suspected to be involved in an incident in which an 85-year-old Florida woman had been scammed by someone saying her granddaughter needed to be bailed out of jail because she was involved in a drunk driving accident that killed a child. The woman’s granddaughter had not been arrested and heard her grandmother talking to the scammer, who had asked her to send $1,000 in cash to an address in Massachusetts. The package was one of 12 containing a total of $150,000 sent between May 6 to 25.

Police Log: Pair of Men Wanted on 5 Warrants Each, Drug Charges; Money Missing from Nursing Home Residents

May 19, 2:08 a.m.: A police officer checking on the parking garage at Arsenal Yards spotted a white pickup with two men inside on the second floor. One of the men appeared to be hunched over with his eyes closed. Police checked on them and asked what they were doing in the mall after business hours. They said they had no place to stay, and they were looking for work so they figured they would check if Arsenal Yards had work with all the construction going on.

May 10, 11:50 a.m.: A man that had been trespassed from the Watertown Mall came back to the mall. Police were called and employees pointed the man out to them. The man had been sent a trespass order after being told to leave because he was unwanted. He had also been drinking alcohol in the Mall.

Incidents

May 3, 3:41 p.m.: The owner of a work vehicle left in Watertown was informed that the vehicle had been involved in an incident in Walpole. The 2005 Ford pickup had been parked at a construction site on Howard Street on April 30, and the following day Walpole Police stopped the vehicle and found that the driver did not have a driver’s license and it was towed. At the time, Walpole Police did not know the vehicle had been stolen. When they realized it was stolen they contacted the owner.

Police Log: Employee Charged With Assaulting Assisted Living Center Resident, Stolen Vehicle Recovered

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Incidents

April 28, 1 p.m.: Police received a call from The Residence at Watertown Square on Summer Street after management found an employee of the assisted living center mistreating a resident. During an internal investigation on a separate matter, management found a video showing an employee being physical with an 83-year-old woman. Watertown Police reviewed the surveillance video and determined the worker’s treatment of the resident rose to the level of an assault and battery charge. Police spoke with the employee, and as a result of the investigation the employee, an 46-year-old Waltham woman, was summonsed to Waltham District Court for assault and battery on a person over 60 years of age.
