See How the Fourth of July Impacts City Facilities, Trash & Recycling

The City of Watertown announced the schedule for municipal facilities on the Fourth of July. City officials sent out the following information:

Watertown City Hall, Library, and Senior Center, are closed on Independence Day, Monday, July 4, 2022. Have a safe and fun holiday! Due to the holiday being on Monday, the trash and recycling pickup schedule shifts a day to Tuesday, July 5 through Saturday, July 9, 2022. Learn more about Trash and Recycling here.

Small Saves Shows Some Heart, Free Comic Book Offer

James DeMarco grew up in Watertown and became a goaltender at age 5. It’s his life’s passion to stand between the pipes and keep the puck out of the net. Combining this with the love of cartooning Small Saves emerged in 1991 and took on a life of his own. “To play goal–then come home and draw Small Saves — is my ideal definition of a good day.”

Free Road Tripping Movies at the Mosesian Center This Summer

The Mosesian Center for the Arts. The following announcement was provided by the Mosesian Center for the Arts:

On Tuesday nights in July and August, the Mosesian Center for the Arts will present free film screenings in its air-conditioned Main Stage theater. Beat the heat and hit the road with favorite duos, trios, and bands of adventurers to globetrot with a good supply of popcorn, snacks, and beverages. Mosesian Arts Executive Director Darren Farrington built the series around “road movies,” with each film including travel in search of someone, something, or just for the “joy” of vacationing. “At a time when we’re all tryin’ to get somewhere,” the arts center promotes, “these classic road movies are just the inspiration – or escapism – that we need!”

Every other week is a Road Trippin’ double feature, with two great road trips at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Single-show screenings begin at 8 p.m. Doors, bar, and concessions open half an hour before the night’s first screening.

Exhibition Coming to Mosesian Center Will Delight Kids & Adults

Dawn Evans Scaltreto’s “The Fool from Mystical Penguin” is one of the pieces that will be displayed at the Mosesian Center for the Arts from July 14 to Aug. 31. The following announcement was provided by the Mosesian Center for the Arts:

No Tuition Increase for Coming Year at MassBay Community College

The following information was provided by MassBay Community College:

MassBay Community College Board of Trustees approved a budget last week that will not require students to pay an increase in fees or tuition for the upcoming 2022-23 academic year. This is the third consecutive year MassBay has avoided charging students more for fees and tuition. “At MassBay we believe the access to higher education is a matter of social justice,” said MassBay President David Podell. “We remain accessible by keeping the cost to attend as low as possible for students, by offering scholarships and financial aid counseling, and by ensuring the investment students make in us pays off in the end with well-paying, rewarding careers. Kudos to our financial management team for enabling us once again to keep tuition and fees at current levels.”

MassBay is the lowest-cost college option in MetroWest.
