Dec. 26, 6:50 p.m.: Security at Target spotted a shoplifter. He was seen taking six bottles of wine valued at $420. Police responded and found the man outside the entrance.
Residents should be sure to lock the doors and windows of their homes, Watertown Police said, after a pair of break-ins this week. On Friday, the Watertown Police Department put out messages on social media alerting the public to the incidents. The first one occurred on Lovell Road on Dec. 21, and police said entry was gained through a rear locked door sometime between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m.
In the late hours of Dec. 23, a Common Street home was broken into.
A pedestrian struck and killed on a roadway in Dedham has been identified as a Watertown woman. The Norfolk County District Attorney’s office identified the woman as Marguerite Scanlon, 63, of Watertown, according to a post on the Norfolk DA’s Facebook page. “The matter remains under investigation by Dedham Police Department, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police, and the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office and no charges are in place at this time,” the message reads. The incident occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on Monday on Bridge Street (Rte. 109) in Dedham, according to WCVB Channel 5.

Dec. 6, 8:30 a.m.: An officer at the Watertown Library recognized a man who was wanted on a warrant. The man was placed under arrest without incident. Arvedis Vartanian, 68, of Waltham, was arrested on the warrant from Waltham District Court for larceny.

Nov. 29, 9:43 p.m.: Two employees at the UPS facility on Coolidge Avenue got into an argument about a woman while in the break room. Their break ended and one of the men headed toward his work station and the second, Jesse Romero Velasquez, followed him. The argument continued and Velasquez took out a pocket knife and made stabbing motions toward the other man.

Nov. 23, 7:20 a.m.: A 2015 Chevy Malibu was vandalized on Morrison Road. The windshield was smashed with a blunt object, both driver-side windows were struck with a blunt object and the hood had scratches on it. A large rock found nearby is suspected to be the object used to break the windows.

Nov. 16, 1:02 p.m.: Security at Home Depot spotted a man put multiple items into a duffle bag and walk out of the store. Police were given a description and they located a man fitting the description near the parking garage near Home Depot. He had a duffle bag with items from Home Depot.

Nov 8, 4:30 p.m.: A Watertown woman was shopping with her child at CVS on Main Street. She put her purse and wallet in the bottom of her baby stroller and walked around the store for about half an hour. When she went to pay for her items she realized her wallet and purse were gone. Later that day the woman’s credit cards were used in multiple places in Boston.
