Looking for a place in Watertown to donate on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 29, here are some ideas. Watertown Boy’s & Girls Club serves hundreds of children across the community. It also provides swim lessons and hosts some of the Cops and Rec programs with the Watertown Police and the Watertown Recreation Department. The Watertown Community Foundation awards grants for educational programs, health programs, revitalization of the riverfront, and provides emergency assistance for families in crisis.

Runners Take to Streets of Watertown for 17th Annual Donohue’s Turkey Trot

Charlie BreitroseRunners hit the streets for the 17th annual Donohue’s Turkey Trot on Thursday morning. The tradition continued Thursday morning when hundreds of runners and walkers gathered for the 17th time to hit the streets of Watertown during the Donohue’s Bar & Grill Turkey Trot. The proceeds from the 5K run and walk run and walk go to the Watertown Boys & Girls Club. Charlie BreitroseTurkey Trot competitors jump off the line at the start of the 5K race. The race drew a large crowd on a sunny but crisp Thanksgiving morning when temperatures hovered around freezing.

Watertown Rotary Club Invites Public to Holiday Mixer & Toy Drive

The Rotary Club of Watertown is excited to announce that it will be hosting a Community Holiday Mixer and Toy Drive! The event will be held at the Hampton Inn and Suites Boston/Watertown on Wednesday, Nov. 30 from 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. 

In the spirit of Rotary’s mantra “service before self,” the club is pleased to announce that it will be collecting unwrapped toys for the Sonny Whooley Foundation in cooperation Lexus and Toyota of Watertown. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, the proceeds of which will directly support the clubs community service initiatives in the coming year.  

Members of the greater Watertown business, philanthropic, and civic communities are invited to join us for an evening of connection, conversation, and celebration as we kick off the holiday season and raise a toast to our community.  

Attendees should plan to bring an unwrapped toy for the Whooley Foundation, but the event is otherwise free of charge. Complimentary beer, wine, soft drinks, and hors d’oeuvres will we served. 

The Hampton Inn is located at 25 Bond St., Watertown, in Arsenal Yards.

Registration Open for Watertown Recreation Winter Session

The Watertown Recreation Department opened registration for the Winter I Session, and has programs for kids, teens, and adults. PreK Indoor Sports is available for ages 3-5, and for children in grades K-2 there is Jr All Sports. For students in grades 3-5 there is All Sports. The Recreation Department also has No Bake Bonanza for youngsters in grades 1-2 and 3-5. Junior Creative Crafts is available for grades K-2, and Creative Crafts for grades 3-5.
