Student Numbers Growing at Watertown’s Elementary Schools

With the opening of school just over a month away, Superintendent Dede Galdston said the number of elementary school students is expected to be more than 100 higher than last year.

The new Watertown High School will welcome students for the beginning of School in September, and the public will be able to take a look around before the first day of classes.
School Committee Approves Interim Student Services Head, Creates Subcommittee to Review Special Education
The School Committee approved the hiring of the interim Director of Student Services, who will oversee the special education program in the Watertown Public Schools, and also created a subcommittee focused on Student Services that will look at the district’s special education program.

Lt. Paul Sullivan was killed in Vietnam in 1968, and a scholarship in his name has been given out for 50 years.
Organizers of the Lt. Paul J. Sullivan Scholarship sent out the following announcement:
The Lieutenant Paul J. Sullivan Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce the 51st annual Lt. Paul J. Sullivan Scholarship. The Scholarship Award of $5,000 will be awarded to a deserving high school senior to perpetuate Paul’s memory.

Watertown Fire Chief Bob Quinn announced the death of retired Fire Chief Paul McCaffrey on Feb. 24, 2019 of occupational cancer. He was 79 years old.
